My Master Bedroom Bedding

September 27, 2017
  • Share

I have been off the blogging grid for weeks!  Now I am back.  Basically, I have been running around getting settled in my house and having lots and lots of guests.  It has been so much fun.  After months and months of not having a place, it is so nice to settle in my lovely Spanish style home here in Beverly Hills (during my house hunt, a very stylish friend of mine at work said he imagined me living in Beverly Hills…he dreamed it and I made it happen!!).

Thanks to my sweet friend Hilde Leiaghat, owner of chic bedding line Pom Pom at Home, my master bedroom is becoming a serene dream. Overall, the decor for the room is still a work in progress. The bed, however, is fully and beautifully decked out with stunning linen bedding. Here’s how I got the bed of my dreams…

I added a light blue COCOCOZY Oxford pillow as an accent.

A few weeks back, my bestie AM, her husband and their kids were in town for the weekend.  I decided to throw a 44 person party for them just 3 weeks after moving in.  I was in a mad rush to get the ENTIRE 3 bedroom house together before guests arrived.

A serene and aesthetically pleasing master bedroom has always my dream.  In addition to a less is more approach as far as decor, in my view, a dream bedroom must have a dream statement bed of course.  I knew one place and only one place that has the most beautiful bedding fitting of a statement bed…Pom Pom at Home.  I met Pom Pom’s owner Hilde Leiaghat years ago at a trade show.  She and her family were showing their collection of beautiful imported linen bedding right next to my own booth that was filled with my decorative pillows and throws. We bonded over long days at several trade shows over the course of a few years. With many chats about business, family, love and life under our belts, Hilde has become a good friend.  She and her wonderful husband and business partner Reza and their son Sam are an amazing and inspiring family.  In addition to being a great person, I fell in love with Hilde Leiaghat’s elegant classic style and her stunning bedding collection.

So, on decor overload of trying to get a whole house in shape before my bestie and her family arrived a few weeks ago, I knew I needed help in the bedrooms.  Yes…even I, who is  obsessed with decor and design, need help from time to time on decorating (also my bestie AM is a good resource for late night decor dilemma calls).

Anyhoooo…back to the bedding…so in a bedding panic,  I emailed Hilde and begged her to style my master bedroom!  Hilde graciously and immediately said yes to designing my master bed and then within a day, Wendy on her team was working with my assistant IS on delivery of the bedding for not just my master but also my guest bedroom (will show that soon…I picked out some lovely pieces for that room)!!! AHHHHHHHHH!  OMG!!!!!! WOWZA!!!!!! BINGO!!!!!!!!

So here it is…a glimpse of my beautiful Pom Pom at Home bed.  Every morning I wake up in bedding heaven.

The cool thing that Hilde taught me with this bedding design plan is about layering.  Here are all of the elements she layered:

LAYERED BEDDING DESIGN – Hilde Style

Layer 1 – Great crisp sheets

Layer  2 – Pillow cases with a bit of detail

Layer 3 – Quilted coverlet or light blanket – solid color

Layer 4 – Duvet cover – subtle print

Layer 5 – Standard shams to match duvet

Layer 6 – Large Euro pillows in a solid color to match color scheme

Layer 7 – Dust ruffle or bed skirt with same detail as sheets or pillow cases

Layer 8 – Bed scarf or light throw at end of bed to add a layer of texture or color

My bedroom is still a work in progress but the my layered bed is DONE DONE.  With all of the kooky and sometimes disturbing things going on in our country these days, having a peaceful serene place to rest is a must for me!

Thank you Hilde and Wendy from Pom Pom at Home! You are amazing for helping my bedrooms look picture perfect.

To readers…is it possible to throw a dinner party in my bedroom?  What is the protocol on throwing a party just to celebrate a beautiful bed?  Hmmm….will have to go to my manners books and check! 🙂

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
