NEW ORLEANS BOUND – LET THE HOLIDAY GOOD TIMES ROLL!

Metal front gate at the Wedding Cake House in New Orleans

Am in L.A. at the airport taking off to go to my friends CF and FF’s fabulous holiday party in New Orleans – this is becoming a tradition for me (how many years do you have to do something before it becomes a tradition by the way… anyone know? Huh?)

Found these pictures I took a few years back while in New Orleans visiting CF, FF and their darling son (my godson). These were taken in the middle of Spring in New Orleans about four years ago…quite a different time from the snow flurries that the city experienced yesterday (and before Katrina).

Regardless of the weather or the circumstances, my friends and New Orleans have always been so welcoming to me…an open door…a warm inviting light…lots of good times.

This year AM, JE, and their son are all coming in from New York for tomorrow’s charmed holiday party at CF and FF’s house. Dear friend JH and her husband DH are also coming in from South Carolina. Should be a great gathering of friends!

We’re having gumbo and cocktails on the porch tonight.

Update…Le bon temps just stopped rolling…am now sitting on plane and we are here at gate for another 20 minutes while they change some parts? Hmmm…

I’ll be there soon enough! Patience…right? Will try to blog a bit when I am there. Plan on going on a home tour in the Garden District and doing some furniture shopping on Magazine Street…will keep you posted.

P.S. For some reason I brought five (5) pairs of shoes with me…went to Barneys last night to buy some heels…ended up with a few pairs of Prada and a wonderful pair of Manolo Blahniks…did I mention there are two parties tomorrow night? A girl has to be prepared.

Going to log off now and start reading Twilight…tah tah!!! We are taking off!!!

The spaces that get it right pair it with warm oak, aged brass, and something worn-in: an antique dresser, a vintage runner, a hand-thrown vase.

Try these little things to lift your mood today:
✨ Put on the playlist that makes you happy
☕ Grab your favorite coffee
👗 Wear the outfit that makes you feel confident
☀️ Step outside and soak up some sunshine
🤍 Or simply give yourself a few minutes to reset
Good energy doesn’t always have to come from something big. Sometimes, you can create it yourself.

Heidi Caillier Design took this historic San Francisco home and layered floral wallpaper, striped drapery, checked linens, and antique textiles room after room without a single one feeling overdone. Marble mantels, gilt mirrors, brass fixtures, and warm wood floors do the quiet work of holding it all together.
This is what happens when “more” is chosen on purpose.

A great bathroom isn’t just functional, it’s the one room in the house that’s entirely yours. The stone you choose, the way light hits the fixtures, the tub you actually want to sit in. These are the ones that get it exactly right.
Save this for your next bathroom renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Here’s a little throwback toHappy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
Here’s a little throwback to a Labor Day dinner party I hosted a few years ago, and honestly, we’d still do it this way. 🥂✨
Hosting this Labor Day? Keep it simple:
• Set the table with one statement detail + neutral basics
• Choose a menu you can prep ahead so you’re not cooking all night
• Add candles or flowers to make the table feel special
• Serve everything family-style for a more relaxed feel
• Don’t overthink it. The best dinners are the ones where everyone lingers a little longer 🤍
Save this for your next dinner party and send it to someone who’s hosting! 🍽️
