PHOTO OF THE WEEK: OPEN LIVING

June 6, 2008

White modern open plan kitchen and living room with large picture window

Photo: Reid Rolls (home of architect Price Harrison)
I am posting this Photo of the Week by Nashville photographer Reid Rolls. Reid is a versatile photographer who takes amazing photos of people and places. He is the first photographer who agreed to allow me to use his photos on this blog…and coincidentally enough his work is my favorite. Either his clients chose him because of his eye for design or he chooses his clients because of their eye for design….either way…his interior design, decor and architecture photos always work brilliantly!
The reason I am choosing this photo is because a friend of mine is thinking of buying a new house. She’s found another potential target new home purchase…this time in the Hollywood Hills off of Laurel Canyon. The home she is considering has a refined modern industrial loft feel with an open kitchen and living room area similar to the space above. While she has not made a decision on whether or not to buy, she is really considering. I thought this photo might help her see the potential and decorating possibilities of her prospective house.
According to Reid’s photo description, this home belongs to Tennessee architect Price Harrison. I found Price Harrison’s website and more pictures of this house, which he calls The Harrison House. Price’s site also features fantasitic photos of the rest of his award winning work in case anyone wants more ideas. He designs are ultra modern featuring clean lines and angles that create soothing and refreshing living spaces.
The light wood floors, huge wood framed windows and the sleek kitchen with white cabinets and what looks like white quartz counters featured in the Harrison House really create a stunning framework and an inspiring living space!
There’s an idea for you!
P.S. Will continue to post more inspirational design and decor photos from Reid and other photographers too…please comment and/or please write me with some of your inspiring home design ideas!

Low light. Lacquered walls. A kitchen wrapped in hand-patinated brass. An antique mirrored bath with painted bamboo panels. A bedroom in floor-to-ceiling leopard print that somehow feels calm. Maximalism that whispers.
Save this one for the next time someone tells you maximalism canโ€™t be serene. ๐Ÿ–ค

Stay tuned. Lol.
