A $2 MILLION DOLLAR SPANISH RANCH IN LOS ANGELES!

September 12, 2011

Foyer with black front door, arched entry way, wood floor a round mirror and a small table holding an orchid

A mere $1,995,000, gets you a 4 bed, 3 bath, 2857 square feet 1928 Spanish ranch style home in the heart of Los Angeles – something they are now calling the Beverly Grove area of town (I grew up in Los Angeles…and when I was a kid, L.A. was just L.A….now there are a million names for a million different little areas and I’m not quite clear who came up with them? I think it is way to make areas sound nicer than they are…I live in the Hollywood Hills, I’m going to rename my area Hollywood Palm Beach Beverly Air Hills…done…).  This real estate listing is from Rodeo Realty.

Not a mansion but a home…a lovely nest in the middle of L.A.   I like the arched ceiling in the living room, the wallpaper in the dining room, the shiny black front door and the pool…I could use a pool most definitely.

exterior of a white Spanish style home with red tile roof, a brick walkway, grass and a large tree
Living room with arched ceiling, a stone fireplace, black French doors, wood floors, a Moroccan style rug with a white sofa and two matching armchairs with neutral accent pillows
Living room has an arched ceiling, stone fireplace and french doors! (above)
Dining room with graphic wallpaper, black crown molding, a black table surrounded by white chairs, a brass chandelier, and an arched picture window
The dining room features graphic wallpaper and sleek crown molding painted in a shiny black. (above)

Kitchen with hexagon Saltillo tiles on the floor, stainless appliances, dark wood cabinets with silver drawer pulls and white counter tops and two silver pendant lights. Instead of an island, there is a wood table with two metal chairs

Den has wood paneled ceiling and a dark wood floor with a sea grass area rug and a glass coffee table. A white sectional sofa has black and white accent pillows with a metal arched lamp. The room has a view of the backyard and pool thanks to the large window and sliding glass door
The den has nice views of the backyard and the pool (above)
Master bedroom with a stone fireplace with a wall mounted flat screen TV, on each side of the fireplace is a grey armchair in front of a window with floor length white curtains, the room has wood floors, a grey area rug and a large mirror leans up against the wall. French doors lead outside.
Another stone fireplace in the first of two master suites. (above)
Guest bedroom with taupe wing back headboard, a black writing desk with a white armchair with red and brown accent pillows, wood floor with a striped area rug, black oval nightstands and a beige chaise longue with orange accent pillows near the window
Backyard of a Spanish style home with a large pool in the backyard
The pool! (above)

I think this is a cute home. I’d take it if someone gave it to me. I would. What do you think? Would you pay $2 million to be right in the center of things in Los Angeles? What would $2 million buy in your town?

Happy Monday!

LA is crazy priced isn’t it? I hope when we are ready to sell we can get those prices. But love the black molding and front door…very stylish

I can totally relate to the price tag since I live in the pricey San Francisco Bay Area. Nice house though.

This price range is similar to the prices in my neighborhood, minus the beautiful pool and the grounds. I live in a beach community, therefore prices are crazy! I love the floor to ceiling windows in the livingroom and dining room. It is a gorgeous home!

I love the style of the house, the decor is neutral and calm but still current. 2M would get about 9,000 sq ft on 5 acres where I live!

Beautiful. Would have thought it would be even more given where it is!

This is a bargain compared to Munich especially given the location right in the heart of LA! I loved your descriptions of the LA neighborhoods – too funny. I’d take it all except the kitchen…that’s a bit too Spanish for me, but the rest I absolutely adore!

For $2,000,000 that would be the steal of the century in Vancouver, BC!!

$2 million is out of my league but a beautiful house indeed. It is much more expensive than 90% of the houses in my town in Oregon. If given to me though, I’d be more than thrilled since a used to live in San Diego and love the southern Cal climate and absolutely love the lap pool since I am a swimmer! Lovely home but would probably change a few of the decorating since I like a bit more color.

I love this, cute and cozy, a nice getaway from the east coast. If I had the extra money….
