The centerpiece of this Melbourne Australia home is an elaborate antique carved wood door from the northern Indian province of Rajasthan. With pieces collected from Morocco, Sicily, Tanzania and even California, this home is truly global!
I like. I like a lot. The carved dark wood furniture is a nice contrast to the white washed walls. I like the fact that the accessories and furniture come from all over the world – a truly international home!
Prayer beads from Sicily and art from Tanzania adorn the living room walls. (above) |
In the dining room, a strategically placed carved white mirror almost looks like a doorway! (above) |
What do you think of this global abode? Like or dislike? What might you add or get rid of to make it your own? This home had me at the carved door from India!
Happy Monday!

I’m betting Aussie’s have some pretty incredible architecture in their neck of the woods… this house is unreal & that door literally has no words to describe it!
So many beautiful details in these photos! I would add some pops of colour to make it home for me! Lovely place.

Totally agree with Tiffany… a few pops of color and this house would be perfection! The wood detail is stunning… maybe throw a few more pillows in those stiff wooden chairs and it would be fab. Thanks for sharing!

The house plants up against the white walls makes it look so fresh! I absolutely love the floors. So rich, and full of character! The furniture sits a bit low for my taste, so that’s what I would change.
The door IS fantastic, does anybody know what that style is called?
That carved entry is unreal! Global and super chic! DEF what I’d DIE to live in one day!

I LOVE this space. A love a global interior and this one does it beautifully! My favorite touch are the Sicilian prayer beads displayed against artfully agains the white wall…gorgeous!
What a marvelous interior! I’m really lovin’ the carved doorway and pendant lights.
Not sure if sitting on a wooden bench would be that comfortable, but it gives a weathered, worldly feel to the room.
We do ladies, lots of gorgeous buildings, classic design, great architecture – Personally I am LOVING this house… I would love to know where exactly in Melbourne it is so I can do a drive by… Hubby is Moroccan so one day we are really hoping to replicate some of the ideas in these photo’s. We’d add a bit of colour too in the form of some beautiful rugs!
Thanks for sharing something from Down Under Coco 🙂 Kate xxx
What a stunning, eclectic home. Before reading the caption I thought that mirror was an arched doorway. That is a fantastic way to make a room look larger and add complexity and depth. It adds such dimension to the space. I will have to try that in a future project. Thanks for sharing. Very inspiring.

I really like the contrast between light and dark – it helps give the space a great feel. Love the simplicity of the fireplace and the choice of furniture, not to mention the incredible pool!
I would keep it just as it is! Love!!
Love the combination of all these global infuences…and from the home owners perspective it presumably envokes so many fond memories. My husband and I always try to bring a souvenir back from anywhere we visit (I’m talking home accessory rather than typical tourist tat obviously!) …and I love the way surrounding yourself with these things transports you on even the greyist of winter days!
This is a beautiful home. Saving it in my inspiration folder straight away. Thanks 🙂
