Alyson’s remodeled kitchen
At my friend Alyson Domoto’s lovely West Hollywood condo tonight. She is making dinner for us on her new grill. It is really quite nice. We’ve had good conversation, wonderful champagne and some great cheeses thus far…but the highlight of the evening really is her amazing kitchen remodel.
By day, Alyson Domoto is a pratical corporate attorney. In her off hours, Alyson definitely has a penchant for style and design. Evidence of this is her new condominium.
Alyson moved into her condominium less than a year ago but wasn’t shy at all about taking on her design challenges. Her first project…the outdated kitchen.
Here is what it looked like before:

Alyson took on this project with her contractor who was familiar with the ins out and outs of the building design. Alyson first task – cabinets; they got the dark wood cabinets from Kitchen Warehouse on Washington Blvd. Then came the fun stuff…a beautiful taupe colored mosaic glass tile backsplash, black granite countertops and stainless appliances.
Notice the lighting has changed significantly too…before there was a weird spaceship-like fluorescent lighting fixture looming over the kitchen (one that Alyson says was probably installed years ago in every unit in the building – oy!), and after the spaceship lighting is replaced with discreet but effective recessed lighting.
This is Alyson’s first kitchen renovation and kitchen remodel…excellent work!!!
Oh and dinner was excellent too!

Love the way that Alyson and her contractor decided to take backsplash all the way up the wall to the ceiling. It gives the kitchen more sparkle.

Gorgeous! Where did you buy the tiles and $?
I live in San Francisco. Do you know who manufactures the tiles and the name of the pattern? It’s stunning!
As i look at this pic.s i cant help wondering what that unique dome would have looked like with those new cabinets and counders and backdrop.
Love this kitchen… Any idea where to find the tile?
I’ve seen them here
