Foyer with dark wood floor, simple furitnure and art and orange grass cloth covered ceiling
The entryway of a New York City apartment features dark wood floors, simple but elegant furniture and art, and playful orange grass cloth covered ceiling! (above)

LOVE this New York City home designed by talented interior designer Christina Murphy. I met Christina years ago through best of friend AM. After I started the blog about two years ago, AM reminded me that Christina was an interior designer. Eureka…someone else to track down about being featured! Well two years later, I happen to be browsing through (or stalking) Christina’s site and found a plethora of GORGEOUS photos of her stunning designs! The photos were so beautiful and so my style that I had mixed feelings about doing this post…my initial instinct was to hoard all of the photos for my own enjoyment (clearly my instincts are off…). Logic and magnanimity luckily prevailed and I decided to share (think I learned about this sharing thing in pre-school…hmmmm…it is coming in handy I guess).

Anyhoooo…..Christina was named one of “America’s Top 100 Designers” by House Beautiful…and after seeing just this apartment in New York you’ll understand why.

A wonderfully classic space with modern chic design twists and surprises. Love it!

Blue living room with Madeline Weinrib ikat pillows, a tight back tufted white sofas, and a mirrored fireplace surround
A royal blue and white living room is the shining centerpiece of the home…literally. Glossy lacquered walls make a bold statement in this elegant living space. (above and below)

Blue living room with Madeline Weinrib ikat pillows, a tight back tufted white sofas, and a mirrored fireplace surround
Madeline Weinrib ikat pillows, a tight back tufted white sofas, a mirrored fireplace surround, amazing art and a simple subtly patterned checkered rug all blend together adding texture and visual interest. (above)

Dining room with white and tan floral wallpaper, crystal chandelier, and a tulip style table with a metal and lucite base and upholstered Philippe Starck Madeline chairs
Wow! The dining room is a chic show-stopper covered in a white and tan floral wallpaper. A round dining table with a tulip style metal base is surrounded by lucite and leather upholstered Philippe Starck Madeline chairs. (above)

Family room with octagon graphic print rug, orange sofa, built in bookcase and diamond printed club chairs
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill family room! A octagon graphic pattern rug cleverly picks up the hues in this den with orange and browns being the order of the day. Every detail is perfected here…love the orange upholstered sofa, the brown and white fabric covered club chairs, the white roman shades with brown trim and of course the rich brown wall color. Makes for a truly inviting and cozy space. (above)

Kitchen with diamond patterned black and white tile floor, white cabinets and a built in desk
My favorite room perhaps – the kitchen – boasts a fantastic diamond patterned black and white tile floor, simple white cabinetry and even a built-in desk. I want that floor! (above)
Master bedroom with crisp white monogrammed linens, a majestic white headboard and clean white furniture
The master bedroom is bathed in a palette of soft blues and white. Crisp white monogrammed linens, a majestic white headboard and clean white furniture, all come together to make a very soothing and beautiful space for rest and sleep. (above and below)
White nightstand in a master bedroom with white headboard and blue graphic print carpet
Bathroom with black and white chevron patterned tile floor
A to-die-for unique zigzag black and white chevron patterned tiled floor makes a stylish design statement in one of the home’s bathrooms. (above)

Baby room with crib next to a twin bed with upholstered yellow headboard and graphic print rug
Even the baby room is poshly appointed with great furniture, art and a fantastic rug. A crib is positioned next to a twin bed with a yellow upholstered headboard…meaning this room can easily transition from nursery to little girl’s room over time! (above)

Guest bedroom with colorful floral wallpaper, striped headboard and matching accent pillows
A colorful floral wallpaper compliments the bedding in a guest room! (above)

Love it all, but positively adore the entrance way, with the splash of orange on the ceiling serving as foreshadowing of what’s to come.

This is a showstopper apartment. Especially love the foyer and the way it sets the tone for the rest of the space. It’s so different (with that orange sherbet colored ceiling!) that you can’t wait to see where it leads.
Also love the flooring treatments …epecially the dark wood in the foyer and the black and white in the kitchen.

The blue bedroom is great! The bright whites are cheerful, while the blue paint color is so calming. It’s a perfect balance.

Ive always loved this designers taste… Only one thing is annoying me. Some of the pictures above are taken with really strange angles. I feel like they dont do the rooms justice.
