SHOP WATCH: A FAB NEW FURNITURE SHOP OPENS IN LOS ANGELES!

Inside Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe's NK Shop

Went to a fab store opening a few weeks back. Quite fab indeed.

Interior designers Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe of Nickey Kehoe Inc. opened their NK Shop on Highland Ave in Los Angeles (just north of Melrose). October 28th was the opening night for this delightful high end home furnishings shop…and the evening was truly a delight.

The store feels wonderfully vintage chic…distinctive treasures from around the world housed in a raw warehouse-like space. Even on opening night, filled with quite a colorful crowd, I could see that each item in the NK Shop was carefully chosen – from original designs, to vintage or acquired furniture and home accessories. All with a distinct personality…charmed, relaxed, paying stylish homage to the past (whether it be the 1970’s, midcentury or beyond) and all coming together to create a store and feeling that is ultimately eclectic and so design forward.

The store was crowded (jam packed actually) with L.A.’s design community (I think that is who they were…hee hee). I brought my fashion designer friend Melissa Masse and met up with my cute friend Katy Daly (she’s the one with the green dining room) who is also in the interior design business…just two of L.A.’s creative types who were ogling over all of what NK Shop had to offer (oh btw…for those of you care…noticed that actress Natalie Portman was in the room too…)

NK Shop’s outdoor foyer is casually appointed with planters and decorative wall pieces and a wonderful wood console table (above)

On the shop floor, a 1940’s settee upholstered in green hemp linen and Moroccan rug ($1800) sits next to a 1970’s tubular steel and black leather armchair ($1200) to create a compelling and comfy looking sitting area (above)

These two arm chairs are my favorite…according to Todd, these tufted upholstered classics come straight from Paris! (above)

NK Shop is a “must” if you live here or are ever visiting town…by the way, it is conveniently located just across the street from the fantastic Mozza and Mozza Pizza, Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton’s famed eateries. Across the street! I emphasize location because I would like to point out that Melissa and I picked up our car from valet at NK Shop and then drove ACROSS the street to Mozza and valet parked there…oh so L.A…we did have a moment of pause though (a very short moment) and then justified that valet would be closing soon at NK Shop so we had to drive…right?…hmmmm…note, when we left Mozza, valet was still open at NK Shop….hmmmm again.

I just shopped at NK last week. It is my new favorite store in LA. I wanted to buy everything I saw there.

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Here’s a little throwback toHappy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
Here’s a little throwback to a Labor Day dinner party I hosted a few years ago, and honestly, we’d still do it this way. 🥂✨
Hosting this Labor Day? Keep it simple:
• Set the table with one statement detail + neutral basics
• Choose a menu you can prep ahead so you’re not cooking all night
• Add candles or flowers to make the table feel special
• Serve everything family-style for a more relaxed feel
• Don’t overthink it. The best dinners are the ones where everyone lingers a little longer 🤍
Save this for your next dinner party and send it to someone who’s hosting! 🍽️

The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. Soft, sculptural, and impossible to walk past without wanting to sit down. The rooms that get it right pair it with something unexpected: a dramatic mural, an antique screen, a city skyline, a hand-laid mosaic floor.

A well-designed bunk room isn’t just for kids. It’s about making every guest feel like they got the best bed in the house. Built-in storage, thoughtful lighting, and bedding that actually makes you want to climb up top.
Save this for your next build or renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎 This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎
Designer Ashley Montgomery layered reclaimed wood beams, brass hardware, and deep walnut millwork against soft plaster walls, and somehow every single room still feels calm. The olive built-ins in the living room, the arched oak doors, that brass shower enclosure in the primary bath... this is what happens when someone actually commits to a palette.
Swipe through and tell us which room you’d move into first. 👇

How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️
I flew from Los Angeles to Nantucket for a very quick trip and I’m planning to find out.
Beautiful beaches, boats, gorgeous interiors, time with friends and one last little dose of August.
Turns out you don’t always need a whole week to feel like you got away. 🤍
So happy to be visiting bestie @francesgfayard and her husband Calvin and my godson Carter for a little last minute end of summer travel. New England at its best. Day 1 was a beautiful day. 🤩
