SHOP WATCH: CHIC SHOP IN LOS ANGELES!

hot pink jade lamp finial
A hot pink jade lamp finial from designer Hillary Thomas at her Los Angeles store. (above)

Popped by a nice store party last night at Chic Shop in Brentwood…the darling little home furnishings store owned by Los Angeles interior designer Hillary Thomas.

Darling darling darling store.  I was immediately charmed when I walked into the small space.  So many wonderful vintage design finds and much more lining the shelves.  A very cheerful space.

The piece de resistance (besides seeing my COCOCOZY pillows on display…Hillary bought them at the New York Gift fair and we shipped them to her last month…she bought pink and peacock blue which go so well with her design aesthetic…)….so as I was saying before my parenthetical, the piece de resistance in the store are Hillary’s stone finials.  I had done a post on them once based on only seeing pictures.  I’ve got to say…after seeing these beautiful pieces meant for the top of lamps, I was really in love.  Makes you think…why go with the standard finial that comes with any lamp…a colorful or carved stone finial is a must!

It was also so great meeting Clara Hendon, Hillary’s best friend and business partner. Clara and I have emailed a few times so it was great finally meeting! Clara moved to Los Angeles to help Hillary grow her business. So cool! Of course, all things revolve around me…so as soon as Clara told me she moved to Los Angeles, I got to thinking. When I hopped into my car, I frantically dialed a number… immediately calling my best of friend AM to tell her she needed to leave her high powered finance job in New York, pack up her two kids and husband and move to Los Angeles. Best of friend AM didn’t answer her phone, but her husband JE did…I explained to him my plan for their family and he is on board. Now just need to talk to AM this morning and see whether I can just get her to drop her whole NY life and come live in Los Angeles to hang out with me! Logical thinking right?

Anyhooo…here is the shop!

Anything you see here you like?  Have you ever thought of changing out your finials to spruce up a lamp?   I’m now thinking I need to!

If you are in Los Angeles, you should definitely stop by this adorable store…!

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨
