SLOWLY FALLING FOR AN ULTRA MODERN KNIT LOUNGE CHAIR!

A pink slow chair with two green accent pillows design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec from Hive
Hive – Slow Chair – $3155 (Design Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2007. Metal frame, aluminum legs, knit fabric.Made in Germany by Vitra) (above)

Love this chair. Made out of a metal frame with a high tech knit mesh fabric stretched over it like a nylon stocking. Love the clean lines…airy light feel due to the translucent knit fabric…and surprisingly for me, in this case, I even like the soft blush pink color. It comes in other colors too.

Made for Vitra by two brothers…here’s how Vitra’s website describes this well designed armchair:

“Thanks to the knit sling cover, the Slow Chair combines soft comfort with ergonomic support, which is further enhanced by thin seat and back cushions. The translucent sling cover replaces the thick cushions of traditional armchairs, resulting in a design that is lightweight, yet generously proportioned. The restrained appearance of the Slow Chair is equally appealing in the living room or winter garden, while offering unrestrained seating comfort.”

This is one of those items I can see playing a leading role in any home…could be paired in a classic living room with more traditional pieces of furniture or in a sleek all white modern minimalist home. The more I look…the more I like it!

I’ll take two, please. Oh wait, they’re $3,000 bucks a crack. Nevermind. I can only dream. I love these chairs, and in my imagination there are two of them sitting next to my (also imaginary) George Smith two-seater sofa.

They’re modern, yet they kinda look retro to me, too.

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
