STAND-OUT FREESTANDING BATHTUBS

January 19, 2015

I love a beautiful freestanding bathtub.  Something kind of romantic and decadent about it.  A nice soak in a lovely stand-alone bathtub feels like something a lady of great leisure would take in the evenings as she sips champagne, listens to music, and read a nice book.  She would have bubbles of course and a view out of a perfect picture window would help.

Clawfoot, modern egg-shaped, oval, or even a shimmering metallic version of this kind of tub works.

My best friends AM and FF, my guy TE and even my sis DS are all bath people.  I am a long hot shower girl.  But after viewing these beauties I say…”bring on the bath…bring it on.

Curved Metallic Freestanding Tub

Mirrored freestanding tub in a bathroom with Moroccan inspired tile

This metallic curved tub is so elegant looking. The way it reflects off the bathroom floor and draws attention to itself makes me want a freestanding metallic bathtub as well. Having a bubble bath here would be so relaxing.

Black and White Freestanding Bathtub

black and white modern freestanding bathtub

I love the black-and-white theme of this bathroom. This freestanding bathtub matches perfectly with the rest of the bathroom. The two-toned theme of this bathroom along with the freestanding bathtub adds an elegant feel to the bathroom. The modern design of the space also gives it a luxurious feeling.

Modern Egg-Styled Freestanding Tub

Have you ever seen a better placement of a freestanding bathtub? This modern egg-shaped tub is placed right in front of a giant window giving you a perfect view while relaxing in the bath. This design screams modern and I love it.

All White Tiled Bathtub

White bathroom with round tile floor and ceiling

I love a sleek bathroom design. This all-white tiled bathroom with a freestanding bathtub by the window is a genius design placement. Nothing like sipping wine while relaxing in the tub and feeling the breeze in your hair from the window.

Black Freestanding Morrocan Bathrub

Black freestanding tub with Moroccan inspired tile floor
These Morrocan-styled bathroom tiles are a great fit to place a black freestanding bathtub in. The solid color of the tub in the sea of patterns helps it stand out. The roundness of the bathtub and its black exterior and white interior gives it a vintage look that I love.

Some things that would make sitting in a freestanding bathtub feel phenomenal:

P.S. Was in NYC last week…there for work.  Got a chance to see my best friend AM and her hubby JE while I was there.  A highlight indeed.

wow thank you so much. my husband and I are Currently Redesigning our master bedrooms bathroom and we were looking to try and give it a more modern feel but also having that free standing tub. my grandmother has one back in the day and it has really become a lost design choice. Im so happy that the trend has slowly been resurgent into modern design culture. I just need to find one for a reasonable price and Im going to be taking baths at every point of the day from that point on.
    thank you so much,
    K

A bath does feel kind of decadent, doesn’t it? I think it’s because life normally feels so rushed and a bath requires a little bit of a time out. These baths are all beautiful. Clearly pairing a freestanding bath with an awesome tile is a must. Thanks for sharing these diverse styles–definitely on the list for a dream bath.

I visited a new friend Amy, founder of Keur-Amy LaI visited a new friend Amy, founder of Keur-Amy Langseth @keuramylangseth at her chic Paris studio in the Marais and left completely obsessed! Every bag she makes is intentional, considered, and honestly unliIke anything I’ve seen. The kind of craftsmanship you don’t stumble upon easily.
She’s still under the radar. For now. 😌

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨

Sharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. ESharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. Every day for the last few months has been the greatest day ever here. Even days that are not event filled feel special in Paris.
Started with French class on this day. I was taking classes at L'Alliance Français because living here means actually trying to belong here and speak the language.
Then off to the Hôtel de Crillon @rosewoodhoteldecrillon ,a historic palace hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde, known for its timeless interiors and quiet kind of luxury, catching up with a friend like it was the most ordinary thing...in extraordinary place.
So even though nothing momentous happened...wanted to show you what my every greatest day life looks like in Paris.
This city keeps surprising me. 🖤

A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not overpowering, just enough to warm everything up, walls, upholstery, even the smallest details.
It shifts the mood completely. Calmer, softer, and a little more lived in.
Save this if you’re leaning toward softer, warmer spaces. 🌸

What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so hard to look away from is the deliberate clash Sophie Dries @sophiedries_ created and didn’t try to resolve.
The bones of the apartment are pure Haussmann: ornate cornicing, carved boiserie, a marble fireplace with a gilded mirror. Everything a 19th-century Parisian apartment should be. Then she placed a near-black dining table with brass-legged stools into the middle of it. A raw concrete-look bathroom behind the grandeur. Dark, sculptural objects on surfaces that were built for delicate things.
It works because she didn’t try to blend the two, she let them sit in contrast. The apartment feels lived-in and specific because of it.
→ Save this if you’re mixing old architecture with contemporary furniture.
