The Essentials: 20 Things To Bring on Your Next Weekend Getaway

April 1, 2022
  • Share

There’s nothing better than ending a workweek with a weekend getaway. I’m planning a few new trips. I recently escaped to Palm Springs, New Orleans, and New York City. Now I have the travel bug and can’t wait to travel even more. The great thing about a weekend getaway is that it’s short enough to enjoy and easy to adjust back to reality when you return. So while you start browsing for new places to visit, here are some of my weekend getaway essentials.

Jackets

Jackets are essential for traveling to keep you warm and elevate your look. If you have a casual dress then throw on a blazer to dress it up for dinner. Or bring your favorite jean jacket to keep you warm while shopping around town. I recommend bringing at least two different styles to give you options on your weekend getaway.

Dresses

I love bringing dresses for when I travel. They’re light weight making it easier to travel. Dresses can be dressed up or dressed down to fit almost every activity on your weekend getaway.

Beauty

Always pack sunscreen for your face, lips, and body. Don’t forget to moisturize as well. It’s important to keep up with your skincare routine while you travel.

Shoes

If you don’t like to overpack then I suggest bringing one casual shoe and one pair of cute trendy sandals to dress up your look. There is the temptation to bring several different pairs of shoes. It’s easier to plan ahead and narrow it down to the styles you will actually wear.

I typically travel with my family or a few friends. I haven’t gone on any big trips these last few years for obvious reasons (the pandemic). Let me know where you guys are traveling this spring. Would love some inspiration from all of you. Also, my Chirpyest team rounded up their essentials for the perfect girls’ weekend. Go to the blog for more travel essentials here.

Which detail would you start with first, the seating or the lighting?

From the limestone fireplace in the living room to the informal dining space, a peek into the scullery, and finally the kitchen where the island becomes the heart of it all, every space flows effortlessly into the next.
Thoughtful design. Beautiful light. A layout that truly works. ❤️

Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” I will run a marathon. I will hit the road again, train again and I will run. Watch me. Last Sunday, however, wasn’t my marathon day...
I made the best of it nonetheless. If I couldn’t run, I was certainly going to be part of LA spirit and cheer the runners on.
As many may know, I was supposed to be running the Los Angeles Marathon last weekend. After 14 weeks of training and finishing my 19 mile run, I strained a muscle. I went to physical therapy every other day hoping I could still run, but the pain was still there the day before the marathon so I had to call it.
But an injury didn’t stop me from being there. I showed up to Rodeo Drive anyway.
I watched the elite runners fly by, tracked friends, and ended up cheering for three hours. Fast runners, struggling runners, and the later runners still grinding it out.
A friend texted saying she knew the day must have been hard for me. But honestly, it wasn’t. It was just fun, inspiring, and electric.
I will be on the road soon...running a race! Can’t wait!
