THE PRICE REVEAL ON GH’S HOMEMADE TABLE!

December 9, 2008
  • Share

Collage of a homemade trestle table

Thank you to all the readers who played the guessing game on how much it cost GH to make a homemade version of a table he loved. See post below or click here.

I promised I would reveal the price once 10 readers weighed in and took a guess on how much money GH spent making this glass top trestle sofa table/desk. More than 10 people commented today…so here goes…

Remember GH had seen a glass desk that he liked but it cost $1350…and being like many guys I know, he proudly often states “I don’t like paying full price for anything”…hmmmm…..hmmmm….hmmmm…..

In this case, to solve his dilemma GH went on Craigslist and found the parts and pieces he was looking for to make his dream table.

Okay…so here is the price breakdown:

  • One (1) glass top – $40 (negotiated down from $50)
  • Two (2) trestle/sawhorse base legs – $8 (he miraculously got these for $4 each which he negotiated down from $5 each…if you can believe….)
  • Four (4) plastic floor protectors to put under glass – $4.12 for four
  • TOTAL PRICE FOR HOMEMADE TABLE – $52.12

It is kind of unbelievable…isn’t it?

The winner of the guessing game (from those who commented on the post and tried to guess price) is actually anonymous…it is the person who guessed the price would land somewhere between $50-75. You were right! Next time please leave your name and I’ll definitely give you a huge mention!

So this is the end of this particular homemade table story…but I know GH and he is not done yet…don’t worry…you’ll be seeing more of his home decor inventions soon…

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
