A Red Dress and a Different Kind of Confidence

When I got dressed for the first Fashion Bomb Daily Bomb Fashion Show in Los Angeles, I knew I wanted to wear something that felt special.
The fabulous Claire Sulmers of @fashionbombdaily invited me to the event, and I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try something different.
Enter the fire-red Jacquemus dress.
Red is not exactly a quiet color. It has a way of commanding attention without asking for permission. The open back added another unexpected detail, making the dress feel both sophisticated and daring.
I loved that it was a little outside my usual style comfort zone.
Personal style is interesting that way. We often find a formula that works for us and stick with it. We know which colors we reach for, which silhouettes make us feel comfortable, and which pieces feel like us.
There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, knowing your style is one of the best parts of getting dressed.
But every once in a while, it is fun to surprise yourself.
Wear the color you usually pass over. Try the silhouette you have been admiring on someone else. Choose the piece that makes you smile when you look in the mirror.
You might discover something new about yourself along the way.
An Evening Celebrating Fashion and Creativity

My cousin Cala, and I

Me with Claire Sulmers, CEO and Founder of Fashion Bomb Daily
My cousin Cala and I had the best time at the Fashion Bomb Daily Bomb Fashion Show in Los Angeles.
The room was filled with beautiful fashion, incredible emerging design talent, and the kind of energy that makes you want to stay a little longer and take everything in.
I love being in spaces where people are expressing themselves creatively. Fashion is so much more than putting an outfit together. It is a way to communicate an idea, tell a story, and show the world a little bit of who you are.
Seeing emerging designers bring their ideas to life was such a wonderful part of the evening. There is something exciting about discovering new talent and watching people put their creativity out into the world.
Congratulations to Claire and her entire team for bringing this fabulous event to Los Angeles. And a special thank-you to Cadillac for supporting the show.
Of course, having Cala there made the evening even more special. Getting dressed up is fun, but sharing those moments with family makes them even better.
And yes, the red dress was definitely part of the fun.

Wear the Dress

I will always appreciate beautiful design, a well-made piece, and the little details that make an outfit feel special. But I am learning to appreciate something else, too: the feeling that comes when you stop overthinking whether you should wear something and simply enjoy wearing it.
Maybe that means choosing a bright-red dress. Maybe it means finally wearing the statement coat hanging in your closet. Or perhaps it means putting together an outfit that feels completely different from what you would have chosen a year ago.
Whatever it looks like for you, give yourself permission to have fun with it.
Life is too short to save every beautiful thing for a special occasion, wait until you feel completely ready, or spend too much time worrying about what someone else might think.
Sometimes, the most meaningful changes start with small decisions. Choosing something for yourself. Saying yes to an invitation. Walking into a room feeling comfortable in your own skin.
This red dress reminded me that confidence does not always have to be loud, but it should feel like yours.
So here is your reminder, from one woman who decided to try something different: wear the dress. Take up space. Be bold enough to surprise yourself.
And, most importantly, find joy in the life you are creating.
We only get one. ❤️
