In designer Cynthia Rowley’s home, a dining table doubles as an enchanting kid’s reading space complete with scenic upholstered bench and wallpaper featuring a glimmering forest. (above) |
I love these three spaces. Nice comfy bench seating for play time or for a look at a good book- perfect way for a young boy or girl to relax and read. Kids need some stylish lounge time too!

Oh what a perfect playroom and place to read (above) |
Which of these little bench reading nooks do you prefer? I like the first one for some reason…it comes from designer Cynthia Rowley’s home…a table with banquet style seating where the kids can read, draw and relax. Do you have one you like the best?
Happy Wednesday!

P.S. Was up until 2:30a this morning. We did a photo shoot last night at sis DS’s house. It was me, operations manager KS (who loves the color pink) and fab photog Hugh Hamilton! Last minute shoot before we head to market next week. Needless to say…I am a tad tired…just a wee bit…got run to work!
P.P.S. Need stylish things to wear in NY next week. A couple of parties have just popped onto the calender.
P.P.P.S. I think I hear trash people…must run outside in my comical morning outfit of sweats, UGGs and a hoodie and a scarf and go pull out trash cans. This is when a husband would truly come in handy! Anyone have an extra hubby they want to lend?

Something 2 Write About
Gorgeous rooms!! I must say i love the third one! Looks so inviting, cozy, and fun!
The 2nd one is so magical! When I read I like to stretch out my legs and be super comfortable with a blanket and lots of cushions. Plus the natural daylight from the window would be great!

Great images. It is hard to find inspiring images of kids areas without them seeming to kidish or too unattainable, but these are great!
Thanks for the amazing post!
Absolutely beautifully done rooms – I’d have to say the wall painting on the first is my favorite, but the actual reading space in the second is my favorite!! Great pictures – thanks for sharing!!
I’ve always loved the built in beds. They are a great way to open up a small space and give kids more room to play. Plus, who doesn’t love double-duty furniture!
I love reading nooks and I actually put one in the playroom in our home. We used a closet to put it in. It is not only a great reading nook, but large enough for a child to sleep in so it also provides extra sleeping areas, a win win. I am all about promoting reading for children and a special place does just that!

I love that second image…so cosy.
I like the wall mural in the first one, but love the cozy feeling of the second one. I have created one in my daughter’s room with a bench and cushion on a wall with a collective collection hung above and she loves it!!!
i love the second room, and what a great idea for small spaces!
