A floral capiz shell drum chandelier. (above)
I think this chandelier is pretty. Best of friend AM thinks this is ugly.
A capiz shell drum-shaped floral chandelier! Love it! LOVE IT!
When in NY a bit ago, shopping with friend AM…I saw this beauty. AM was off looking at some tables or something and I literally yelled, “AM come over here. AM! Come here! AM come see this GORGEOUS light fixture…it is SOOOOOO pretty.” AM walked over, glanced up and said “I hate it…it’s ugly.” and then she walked off. Hmmmmm….
AM has fabulous taste in decor…so I only feel validated if she likes everything that I like…this time that was not the case.
What do you think dear readers? This is the question I ask you in today’s UGLY OR PRETTY?…what do you think? (I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I want the popular vote in this case!). Is this chandelier ugly or pretty? You decide.
If you hate it, please say it…I can take the truth. I can take the truth. I can take the truth. I really can take the truth. I can. (I am repeating that statement so that it becomes true…).
Hope you have a great Saturday!

Coco
super cute and pretty!
Coco, it’s not for me , however in the right setting could work beautifully.
Not on the fence, so I would say no.

I actually like it….
Coco,
You are definitely right about this light. Imagine a peaceful, evening dinner with this on and dimmed. I bet it casts a very pleasant, warm light. Then even AM would have to admit she was mistaken. You know, we are lucky to have a vision of what something can be. Not everyone does, but it can sort of be learned!!!
I LOVE it!
Like anything unique…they always have a perfect place “somewhere”!!!
I usually look at things in terms of “my style” or not. And I can’t say that the flower theme in decor is my style…, even though I love the shells.
I’m with you. It’s pretty.

I think it’s pretty, and would love it in my dressing room!
Oh yes, like it – it’s a statement piece!
LOVE IT! I just enjoyed a yummy lunch at a restaurant in AZ recently, called Modern Steak. Beautiful space and they had something similar just as you walk into the restaurant…
A-Mazing!
Warmly,
Staci
I LOVE this!
I like it – WAY more interesting than the typical capiz shell version where they are just flat circles.
I think it’s fabulous!
The flower shapes are very pretty, the drum shape is great, and the light casts a soft glow. I love it.
Very pretty and definitely makes a statement!
It is delightful.
love!
in a very modern decor or in a more glamourous one I think it would be very lovely overall though it is a piece that can find a home anywhere I like it alot!

Not one of my favorites…but then I do not like “most things” with capiz shells. Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, enough said. thanks for making all your post interesting. xx peggy braswell
Sorry not for me. I like the shells but not made into flowers.
Verdict: ugly
Love, of course! Go with your gut Coco — decor passion is a visceral tug and must be obeyed. BTW, I bow down to your blog.
Pretty! Must be used with the right decor.
Sorry…I am with AM.
My first thought was, “Oooh…nice”. My second thought was, “I would never want to have to clean that”.
I’m afraid I am with A.M. on this one. It seems a bit much for me.
Sorry! But that is probably because I don’t like shell things!!!
I love it!! 🙂
Love it! I only place lights that have specific interest and are creative, hand made. In my showroom I only carry handmade chandeliers, sconces, lamps… Great choice
Definitely pretty! Actually… I think it’s beautiful! Nice way to light up a space <3
not necessarily my style….but it’s gorgeous!
Design is a billion dollar a year industry due in part to the inspirational whims of its subject audience. IE not everyone likes the same things. Thank goodness!
On a personal note I like the light. If you do to then let it shine. 🙂
It would be perfect for the right project and client. I can really imagine it in a room with a bold color as a back drop =0)
It isn’t my personal style, but it is an interesting work of art. For the right client, I would definitely use it in a home design!
LOVE
We could debate about a degree of prettiness but it’s surely not ugly in any way. But it does take awhile to realize that it’s floral…
LOVE!
LOVE the design and the fact that it’s made with capiz shells makes it even better! I can just see the light reflecting off the shells…stunning!
I think it’s cute! … It’s different …but I feel like if it wasn’t in the right room …it would just be awkward and out of place lol
“Pretty”? No. Cool and interesting, yes.
I don’t care for this one…but I saw a similar, yet FABULOUS one in the shape of a ball that I am drooling over. Maybe one day…in a future foyer…
This picture is actually what brought me to your blog. I absolutely LOVE it!
I looks like the “yeas” have it, but I’m a “nay!”
Im going to have to say ABSOLUTELY ****Nope****
This is a case of a person whose vision is simply different from your own. The chandelier is in a word amazing.Just because AM doesn’t see it that way doesn’t make it ugly. It’s your choice and it is a good one.
