My Tryst with Soho House in L.A: A Night to Remember

September 26, 2010

Hall with curved doorway, white stairs with black runner, log ceiling, white washed walls and a woven basket

Grand Visual Journey: My Imaginations of an Exotic Space

Great hall…great curved doorway…great white stairs with black runner…great log ceiling…great whitewashed walls! Maybe this is someplace in Morocco? I can only imagine what the rest of the space must look like…probably fresh, serene, rich in textures but uncluttered in silhouettes…I can only imagine!

Wonderful stairs = endless possibilities.

Why the Los Angeles Soho House Stands Out

Went to Soho House here in L.A. last night with JD. Hadn’t been to the Los Angeles version yet. Have spent lots of time at the New York Soho House and been to the London one once … but this was my first time at L.A. (or should I say West Hollywood). Was toying with applying to be a member but then dug my heels in and thought not. Well my mind might have been changed last night. The decor by Waldo Fernandez is just amazing. The panoramic city views are stunning. Check out my twitter to see the photo of the view from the roof at night. Oh yes, the quinoa salad is DELICIOUS and the photo booth is fun too (I pretty much made us do a photo shoot until we got the right shot to put on the wall). All that said…rethinking and may have to join after all! Thanks to JD for the fun eve!

Anyhooo….already have taken the dog on a walk this morning through the hills and now I’m off…into 105-degree weather (wish me luck)!

Happy happy Sunday!

The structure is very stylish and modern. Very fresh and its design shows tranquility that makes eye refreshing.

The photo is gorgeous, and I’m laughing because I LOVED the qinoa salad at SH, too, and have been craving it. haha

Before you start moving furniture, ask yourself thBefore you start moving furniture, ask yourself these three questions:
Does this improve the room’s function?
Does it create a better focal point?
Does it make the space easier to walk through?
If the answer is “no” to all three, maybe it’s just the rearranging itch talking. 😅
Save this for the next time you’re tempted to move every piece of furniture in your house.

Summer sale season is here, and we are not holding back. 👏
This is the time of year to finally grab those pieces you’ve been eyeing all season. The good news? Major markdowns are happening right now across some of the best brands.
Our tip: Shop with intention. Know your palette, know your fit, and choose pieces that work with what you already own, not just because they’re on sale.
We’ve already done the hard work and created a Summer Sale Shopping Board filled with our favorite finds. A Shopping Board is like your own storefront. It’s a curated collection of products you can shop yourself or share with others to earn when they purchase through your links.

What makes it work: restraint where you’d expect excess, and boldness where you’d expect safety.
This is what happens when a home is built by people who actually know the place. 🖤
Save this, it’s a masterclass in culturally rooted design.

If you only have 10 minutes, focus on these three things:
1. Make the bed. It instantly makes the whole room look cleaner.
2. Fold or straighten the throw blanket and pillows.
3. Clear visible clutter from nightstands and the floor.
That’s it. Those three steps make the biggest visual impact without deep cleaning.

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤
