A SUNNY SUN PORCH IN BLACK & WHITE WITH A LITTLE RED!

Black and white sun room by Kelley Proxmire with striped floor, beadboard ceiling, white drapes with black trim, white walls, black wicker armchairs and sofa and red accent pillows

It has been raining quite a bit in L.A. lately. Today it is gorgeous though! Just in case more rain is in the forecast, thought I would post a picture of a bright and cheery sun porch in hopes of channeling all things sun.

I like this room by Washington D.C. area interior designer Kelley Proxmire. I am not usually into anything that is just black and white…but for some reason this space works.

Love the striped black and white floor, the white drapes trimmed in black, the beadboard ceiling, the bright white walls, and the fun selection of accent pillows with different black and white geometric and graphic patterns. Oh, did I mention the pops of red here and there!

Happy Sunday!!

Great picture! I’m dying for some sunshine…so so over the rain! It doesn’t feel like LA right now.

This is very unique because you often find very natural colors used in porch or partly outdoor spaces. I have seen many with the brown and green theme or possibly a sand and blue color palette. These strong colors and lines are very unusual and beg you to take a second look.

Oh. my. goodness. How gorgeous. I rarely pull off pics from posts that have to go into my inspiration folder, but I pulled this one! It’s to die for!

Love this porch. And love Kelley Proxmire. And love L.A. If Chicago doesn’t start cooperating pretty soon here I might just have to fly out there.

this is a super stunning room can’t believe that using stairs to setup a complete room will look so alluring, and its a 100% unique article for me.

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
