White market umbrellas on the patio at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel
Looking up at the white market umbrellas on the patio at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. (above)

A few weekends back I was at the Polo Lounge enjoying a lovely late afternoon lunch with my mother, aunts, cousin and sister. It was a gorgeous Southern California day and the outdoor courtyard at the Polo Lounge was buzzing. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and this was one of those days where I thought there could be no better place to live than here.

Before everyone arrived (they were all late of course), I had some time to people watch and soak in the sun. I leaned back in my chair, looked up and I saw this scene of blue skies, palm trees and a canopy of white market umbrellas. The ultimate alfresco dining I thought!

I am aware that there are two photos here and the title of this weekly post is WEEKEND PHOTO signifying there will only be one photo. Oh well, I couldn’t decide which I liked best so this weekend you get two photos.

Hope you are having a nice weekend! See you next week (tomorrow)…uh oh…have no idea what I’ll blog about next week…I’ll think about it tomorrow

Please send me your photos of a fabulously beautiful outdoor living scene. I would love to see and maybe even post here or on Facebook!

Love the Polo Lounge! I was just there last weekend having a drink outside on the patio after an event…if you ever dine inside ask for “Jeremy” – he’s a client of mine I did some design consultation for awhile back and he’s a waiter there.

I absolutely LOVE the BHH and the Polo Lounge, an afternoon snack there and some wine? SO civilized. Pete and I are staying there in a few weeks!

Looking for help! I am trying to find my 12-year old daughter a twin white leather tufted headboard (similar to the one on west elm). I would like the headboard to be a little taller than the one at West Elm. Any sources for me? Thanks so much!

A 90s home in Amman, Jordan, entirely remodelled by local artisans. Neo-Florentine bones, Levant-eclectic sensibility, arched passageways, and a flea-market-meets-commissioned-art collection that makes every wall feel intentional.
What makes it work: restraint where you’d expect excess, and boldness where you’d expect safety.
This is what happens when a home is built by people who actually know the place. 🖤
Save this, it’s a masterclass in culturally rooted design.

If you only have 10 minutes, focus on these three things:
1. Make the bed. It instantly makes the whole room look cleaner.
2. Fold or straighten the throw blanket and pillows.
3. Clear visible clutter from nightstands and the floor.
That’s it. Those three steps make the biggest visual impact without deep cleaning.
Save this for the next time you need a fast bedroom reset. 🔖

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤

Life when I’m offline. 🎣 On this trip to Park CitLife when I’m offline. 🎣
On this trip to Park City, UT, I was way off line with a little fly fishing. No emails. No DMs. No feed. Just a rod, a beautiful river, and however long it takes to catch something.
Running two brands means my brain rarely stops so when it does, it really does.
No fish were harmed. All fish were returned into the river.
What do you do when you log off? Comment and let's give each other some ideas!😀
