WEEKEND PHOTO: COZY BEDROOM DREAM!

February 12, 2011
  • Share

Attic bedroom with dark wood floor, a large black and white checkerboard rug, a pendant light, arched windows, a chest doubles as a nightstand, there is a carved bench at the foot of the bed with matching chair in the corner

Still longing for some time to sleep in…an opportunity to leisurely roll out of bed…I wish I could lounge around under the covers with no big to do list in front of me…just a morning in bed relaxing.

I know, I know, I know…I am sure all of you moms with kids are saying, “Don’t we all wish for that sister?”. I also know after meeting so many busy blogging friends in New York last week, I’m sure you are all thinking, “Yes wouldn’t a day off be nice…in my dreams?”.

Well we can all dream a bit maybe.

I love this little attic or dormer bedroom. Cute, cozy, well appointed. Love the gorgeous arched leaded windows, the A frame ceiling, the checkered rugs on the floors, the simple off white bed linens, the turned wood footstool at the end of the bed and the simple vase of flowers in the window.

Cut to reality…have been up since 7:30a (twirling around in circles getting nothing done), now at the salon (stylist VA agrees that this bedroom is darling), heading to do a mailing, and the list goes on.

In my dreams…hopefully in your dreams too…time to relax!

How are you spending your day today…how did you wake up…was the room anything like this?

Happy Saturday!

It’s nice, but I also think a tad austere. Will send you picks of our bedroom. We just moved in,so it’s a work in progress, but I love waking up here

Well, the scale is very off and that floor is hardly restful feeling. The bed does look comfortable, but would be more so in another setting.

I actually like the room well enough, but would add some color somewhere (artwork, pillows, a throw, etc.).

That room is cozy with the exception of the checkerboard floor, to me its not settling but would make me dizzy. Love the bed, the ceiling, the window…though….love small cozy spots like that. Hope you find some for a sleeping in morning, goodness knows we all need it from time to time.

I love the neutral color palette. The checkerboard rug is a little busy and distracting but overall beautiful space.

Adore this charming eaved bedroom. Grew up in a cape so have a soft spot for these types of bedrooms!

Agreed – love this room. All of the details make this room inviting and more than livable – unlike some of the dormer or attic rooms in smaller homes from the last century. Of course, if you could replace their windows with these along with make a few other tweaks, they could be perfect as well.

Summer sale season is here, and we are not holding back. 👏
This is the time of year to finally grab those pieces you’ve been eyeing all season. The good news? Major markdowns are happening right now across some of the best brands.
Our tip: Shop with intention. Know your palette, know your fit, and choose pieces that work with what you already own, not just because they’re on sale.
We’ve already done the hard work and created a Summer Sale Shopping Board filled with our favorite finds. A Shopping Board is like your own storefront. It’s a curated collection of products you can shop yourself or share with others to earn when they purchase through your links.
✨ Want to make it yours?
Comment SALE and we’ll send you the link. Then just tap “Add This Board” to save it to your Chirpyest account. From there, you can shop the collection, share it with your audience, earn from your recommendations, and get cashback on your own purchases. 💛

A 90s home in Amman, Jordan, entirely remodelled by local artisans. Neo-Florentine bones, Levant-eclectic sensibility, arched passageways, and a flea-market-meets-commissioned-art collection that makes every wall feel intentional.
What makes it work: restraint where you’d expect excess, and boldness where you’d expect safety.
This is what happens when a home is built by people who actually know the place. 🖤
Save this, it’s a masterclass in culturally rooted design.

Panic mode activated!
If you only have 10 minutes, focus on these three things:
1. Make the bed. It instantly makes the whole room look cleaner.
2. Fold or straighten the throw blanket and pillows.
3. Clear visible clutter from nightstands and the floor.
That’s it. Those three steps make the biggest visual impact without deep cleaning.
Save this for the next time you need a fast bedroom reset. 🔖

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤

Life when I’m offline. 🎣 On this trip to Park CitLife when I’m offline. 🎣
On this trip to Park City, UT, I was way off line with a little fly fishing. No emails. No DMs. No feed. Just a rod, a beautiful river, and however long it takes to catch something.
Running two brands means my brain rarely stops so when it does, it really does.
No fish were harmed. All fish were returned into the river.
What do you do when you log off? Comment and let's give each other some ideas!😀
