THE KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE PURPLE KITCHEN!

October 17, 2010
  • Share

Dining room with lavender wallpaper, white fireplace, wood floor, sisal rug and Sputnik chandelier

This dining area inside the kitchen of the annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House is very cheery. Love all of the playful touches used by interior designer Eve Robinson including the lavender wallpaper and the Sputnik chandelier over the dining table.

This dining space provides a bit of brightness on a cloudy day! Oh…it is raining here this morning…actually perfectly gloomy…you know those kinds of days where you just want to stay curled up in bed because it is just a little cloud, rainy and slightly chilly…but I am up…so it is not that perfect…have a lunch by the beach today…hmmmm….not the best day for surf and sand…anyhooooo…I digress again….

Happy Sunday!

P.S. Am so excited about tomorrow’s post…if I can pull it together…my friends just remodeled and added a fabulous new designer kitchen…I went and took pictures there yesterday and I can’t wait to share!

P.P.S. Please remember to follow along on my twitter page too. More of my ramblings about design and other stuff including George Clooney :-)! I will do a Twitter only giveaway soon. So please make sure to sign up there!

I love everything about this room EXCEPT the wallpaper. Just dont think purple is very appetizing but that is just me. It is raining in San Diego too. Isn’t it fun? We west coasters pull out the turtlenecks and uggs as soon as the temp dips to 62 degrees! Brrrr!

It’s not my favorite shade of purple, but I like the graphic paper. From a color psychology standpoint, I’m with Diane…not too appetizing. I love that she went out of the box, though.

Purple is the color of passion. I can image a little to much passion in this room! I painted a whole bathroom in eggplant and it looked nice. This room does too!

I like it……very retro & happy .After all dining rooms are a lot just for show.
Purple has become one of my new favorite colors.

Some of my favorite travel moments are the ones you don’t plan: the pretty street you turn onto, the café you notice while walking by, the building you stop to look at for no particular reason.
So if you’re planning a Paris trip, don’t fill every hour. Leave room to wander.

So today, I took my work somewhere else. ☕️💻
A little change of scenery, a different view, a few hours away from my usual desk and somehow the workday felt a little lighter.
I’ve found that working somewhere else can be a nice reset when I’m feeling stuck, uninspired, or just too used to the same routine. It’s not necessarily about being more productive; sometimes it’s just about making the day feel different.
A little workday change of scenery with me. 🤍
Would you take your work somewhere else for the day?

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
What’s your favorite parquet pattern?

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍
