A pair of 1950’s vintage red metal faux bamboo chairs in the window of Emmerson Troop in Los Angeles, $1600 for the pair (above)
Yesterday I almost had an accident while driving down Beverly Blvd. I saw these chairs in the window of one of the stores I had always wanted to go into called Emmerson Troop. I made one of my classic u-turns and dove right in. These red metal vintage 1950s faux bamboo chairs literally stopped me in my tracks. Had to post them asap for you to enjoy too.
While inside the store, I was trying to get creative with my photography…by catching a glimpse of the chairs in a mirror when I also saw this cool decorative mirror on colored glass mirror (make sense?).
Nice design finds I think for a Saturday afternoon drive by!
Faux bamboo chair with curved legs and wine colored mohair tufted seat cushion. Seat height 18″
Green Fontana Arte Style Mirror – $900 (Round mirror with beveled edge…offset by glass beveled trim in chartreuse. Comes in blue and rust)(above)
Those chairs are amazing! LOVE!
Very cool chairs. I’d strip the red paint off then repaint using a glossy white car paint and add black and white Maharan or Marimekko fabric for a more graphic look. These would look so cool with the mirror you initially showed. Cheers
Those chairs are gorgeous- sooooo yummy! I had a similar weekend- saw to chairs sitting outside one of my favourite stores but had to leave them as I already have a furniture store in my garage…leaving chairs like those behind is so hard!!!
$1600! OMG, I do love them but – wow! Great photo of the chair reflection in the mirror. That’s creative!
the red one looks amazing!
That’s funny – I saw those on Saturday too while I was out shopping (and fighting with my husband about living room furniture)! The woman at the store was not too friendly though, couldn’t look up from her computer for long enough to answer a question we had. Maybe we were giving off fighting vibes – but these are cool.
I was a Set Decorator in LA for years & I remember when Emmerson Troop opened…always one of my favorites. They always have great art. I also love Blackman Cruz.
Ha! I interviewed with them when I first moved to LA, and had kind of forgotten about them. Man I thought that was my dream job….!
