Love this small retro kitchen with a pink tile backsplash I spotted while down in the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago. This kitchen lives in an island bungalow just feet from the ocean.
This vaction home that is available for rent was carefully built and designed by New York money manager Boykin Curry and it was artfully decorated by interior designer Celerie Kemble and her family design firm Kemble Interiors. It is efficient, full of charm and does the trick for a resort vacation home kitchen. This island cottage happened to be right across the way from the little cottage I had the pleasure of staying in at the Playa Grande Beach Club in the Dominican Republic. So, one afternoon, I scooted over and took these snaps. Thought we might be able to glean some design ideas from it.
Love the retro vibe with the white Big Chill appliances – the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher are modern in function but throw back in look. They set the tone making this kitchen seem like it is straight out of the 1950s.
My mother is dying for a retro style fridge. So I took these photos in particular for her. So she could see how it might work in her kitchen.
This is a very cute kitchen. I think the stand out element here is the coloring. The pastel green accents and the pink tile backsplash make this small kitchen super special.

I am in love with the entire kitchen and contents, Coco. I am curious as to what he view is out that window above sink and above the entry way, what material is that cut out is made of? It adds such pixie dust to the kitchen. What a happy place!
Hi Arlene,
The view out of the window is of a garden. I think it is just closed because they close all shutters at night. The cutouts are made of wood throughout the property. It is really so amazing. I think all were made in The DR. It is really quite a happy place!!!
Hope you are doing well!

All is wonderful, Coco. Thank you for asking.
Perhaps you’re inspiring me to finally retire one day. I can never think of a place that I want to vacation. You might have solved that problem for me with this post. What a gorgeous place. I wanna go there!
