The quaint ivy covered carriage house that belongs to a multi million dollar Hamptons estate! (above) |
The second SEE THIS HOUSE this week and it is only Wednesday! This one is quite a doozy.
Uh, 12 beds, 12 baths, 3 half baths in 18,000 square feet on 9.1 acres, a 4 car garage, a carriage house, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, tennis court and so much more all for a mere $49 million in Southampton village.
I was just thinking about what might make the perfect mansion for me one day…and then I stumbled upon this grand estate. I had originally imagined living in a castle some day…but a grand estate would do.
Douglas Elliman real estate is selling the property. It was built back and 1915 but was recently restored an renovated.
Well let’s see…let me think…hmmmm…let me ponder this one…if this home were given to me…would I take it…must examine closely and then let you know whether I could work with this estate. Here’s today’s SEE THIS HOUSE!

The entry hall with a peek into the main living room. (above) |

Large encasement windows and doors provide great light in the large lving room decorated in a white and off white color scheme. (above) |

A mansion wouldn’t be complete without a wood paneled library…and this one has the bonus of a decorative ceiling! (above and below) |
|
The informal dining area seats 10-12 with its banquette seating and wicker chairs! (above) |
|
Even a family who lives in a mansion needs a place to get cozy and watch t.v.! (above) |
|
A master suite with fabric upholstered walls and a sleigh bed! (above) |
|
The indoor pool…whoa! (above) |
|
The outdoor pool…perfect place for a bikini and good book and a cold drink in the summer. (above) |
|
A large outdoor table and brick fireplace…perfect for dining al fresco. (above) |

The grounds. (above) |
Okay…I’d take it! If I was on a budget, I’d change out some of the furniture and make it a little more stylistically consistent throughout and I would want to definitely gut the kitchen and do something white with glass upper cabinets and Carara marble counters and large industrial pendant lights over the island.
So would you take or leave this $49 million dollar mansion? What do you like? What could you leave behind?
Happy Wednesday!

I had the exact same reaction to it as you apparently! Seems like they’re having a bit of a style personality crisis 😉 Mod, traditional, british club, country kitchen . . . the list goes on and on!
But, and let’s be honest here, it wouldn’t be any fun if it was all done right already! This place could be a designer’s playground!
The house has some nice features, but mostly it’s just big. I don’t need to show off for anybody, so I won’t ever want a house like this.
I’d start with that wood paneled library. Maybe paint the brown white. I like the ceiling. And why does the master bed look teeny? Is that a Queen? I say make it a King if you are living in such a huge place. Go big or go home!
Leave it. Too big. And the design right now does nothing for me. If the decor had a little more personality I might be more inspired. Although I do love that outdoor table- that’s on my wish list for “eventually”.
Fun to look, though!
When I look at this house all I think is “who would clean it?”. I guess if you could afford this baby you’d have enough money for a maid, but you’d still need a motorized scooter just to get around. I’ll just take the lovely carriage house please!
wow what a place. i like the vintage American flag and the George Washington print.
I hope that Zebra rug isn’t real Zebra skin :/
i think the only thing i don’t like is the kitchen counters (but what beautiful bricks and beams) and informal dining area.
Looks a bit like a cavernous hotel without guests. Way too much walking for me.
We are totally moving in if you get this house! And I am bring the Downtown Abbey DVDs…
Love AM
There’d be no worries about who is going to clean it, if you have that sort of cash to spend on a house/mansion then you sure as heck can afford a team of people to keep it looking good.
But… I think I’d leave it, I am certainly not seeing the value in spending that sort of money on something that still needs so much work. Kitchen has to go, and something needs to be done about the Master Bedroom… Grounds are lovely though.
Yeah, the kitchen was not my fave either. And I agree about the mish-mash furniture – that would drive me nuts. But the low-ish ceilings throughout are great.
It’s a little too big for me, but i think I could force myself to get used to it! 🙂
The house is absolutely beautiful. I would love to live in a place like this. The indoor pool is definitely the best thing about the place to me. Although, the one thing I would probably change is that wooden paneled library.
