4 Hispanic and Latinx-Owned Brands to Shop Curently

September 16, 2022
  • Share

This month is Hispanic heritage month. From September 15 – October 15, America is honoring Hispanic Americans’ contributions to history and culture. The COCOCOZY team narrowed down our favorite four Hispanic and Latinx-Owned brands to shop. The team included fashion, beauty, lifestyle products, and home decor. Take this month to shop and highlight Hispanic-owned brands to show support. This month we will be highlighting different brands, designers, and creators to help inspire the COCOCOZY community.

CUYANA

Co-founded by Karla Gallardo, an Ecuadorian immigrant, Cuyana is a timeless collection of minimalist fashion. The brand is full of simplistic designs and high-quality staples. The purpose of the company is to reduce clutter in women’s closets. Cuyana offers stylish basics including cardigans, trousers, and blazers. Cuyana specializes in leather goods and accessories, which are perfect for the fall season.

The COCOCOZY team’s must-have item is the stunning System Tote ($278 – $298). It comes in many different colors and is large enough to fit all of the everyday essentials and more.

DecórAte Me

DecórAte Me is a natural soy candle and sustainable serveware online shop. Teresa Madrigal and Eve Ayala created this family-run business to design eco-friendly pieces to be displayed in the home and commercial spaces. The ethos of the company originated from Madrigal’s grandmother in Mexico. Her grandmother worked with Gesso and Arcilla ( types of clay and plaster) to create their family’s dishware. Madrigal and Ayala expanded their handmade collections into trendy soy candles that include designer logos and playful phrases. Sustainability is a priority in their shop which takes the guilt out of stocking up on their candles and ceramics.

The COCOCOZY’s favorite item is the LV Candle ($35)

THE HONEST COMPANY

Highlighting women’s natural beauty and promoting healthy lifestyles, The Honest Company, by Jessica Alba, is all about clean and sustainable products. Alba is a Mexican-American inspired after giving birth to her eldest daughter, Honor. She realized a need for healthy alternatives for products targeted at newborns and children. Since the company launched in 2012, the company has expanded to beauty, home, and lifestyle products.

The COCOCOZY team’s top pick is the Hydrogel Cream ($19.99). It has cooling properties that also hydrate the skin.

Rare Beauty

The beauty brand is founded by Selena Gomez, a Mexican-American actress, singer, and entrepreneur.  In September 2020, she launched her Rare Beauty to help people of all races, sexual orientations, and gender identities embrace their own uniqueness. Selena has been battling Lupus for years which inspired her to create packaging that is easy to open for people with arthritis and other joint and inflammatory issues. The makeup line has taken the world (and TikTok) by storm with its innovative liquid blushes and volumizing mascara. Rare Beauty is also on a mission to give back and help others. Rare Beauty pledges to donate 1% of every sale to the Rare Impact Fund to increase access to mental health services in educational settings. The company’s goal is to reach $100 million in ten years.

The COCOCOZY’s #1 recommendation is the liquid blush ($20). Pro tip: only use a very small amount to your cheeks because the product is VERY pigmented.

The featured image is of a charming pink courtyard during Colette’s visit in 2019 to San Miguel de Allende (a city in Mexico). The founders Jorge Almada and Anne-Marie Midy of Casamidy design studio invited Colette and a few friends to stay at their home. The home is full of Spanish tile and mosaic flooring. The pink courtyard is a special feature that feels enchanting. The picture doesn’t do it justice. See more of the home here.

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
What’s your favorite parquet pattern?

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A balcony this beautiful deserves a tour. 🤍 A litA balcony this beautiful deserves a tour. 🤍
A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
