Living room with Greek key wallpaper, decorative moldings and a bright rug in Brookyln
Greek key wallpaper is applied inside decorative moldings in the front parlor of a renovated brownstone in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn.(above)

Loving this 4-story redesigned and renovated historic brownstone in Brooklyn. Yet another fabulous design creation from The Brooklyn Home Company.

New York Brownstone Revamp

I like the fact that the design takes advantage of everything old in the house but adds a new twist to all of the fantastic architectural detail throughout.

Have some friends of friends who live in Brooklyn and who also have a fabulous renovated brownstone…I may have to “impose” and ask if I can take some pictures there next time I am in New York…just might…

Well for now, here is this great brownstone!

Dining room with decorative mirrors, Greek key wallpaper, slipcovered chairs and a bright yellow Eames chair
A bright yellow molded plastic Eames chair plays host to the home’s dining area that also features decorative mirrors, slipcovered dining chairs all around a rectangular dining table. (above)

Kitchen with a large traditional fireplace, tall built in cabinets and a Sapele countertop
The custom kitchen features a large traditional fireplace with marble surround and painted mantel, tall built-in pantry cabinets in soft black, solid wood Sapele countertop and a red rubber dipped chandelier. (above)

Restored and repainted cake molding in a hallway and stairwell
Cake molding in the hallway and stairwell was restored and painted. (above)

Fuchsia dressing room/lounge with a glass chandelier, custom cabinets and refinished wood floor
A fuchsia dressing room/lounge with a glass chandelier separates the master suite and the master bathroom. Custom walnut cabinets and shelves were built for storage and the original wood flooring was salvaged and refinished in a dark ebony color. (above)

Home office with green and white Kell Wearstler Imperial Trellis wallpaper and a green Parsons desk
The iconic green and white Kelly Wearstler Imperial Trellis wallpaper is used in the study/home office. A glossy Parsons desk sits in front of a tall window.

Children's room with a large map of the world and brown and orange wicker storage baskets
A large wall map of the world acts as art in the children’s playroom while wicker storage baskets in brown and orange keep toys organized.(above)

Close up of a crib with yellow and navy bedding
Sweet dreams in the nursery…detail of the baby’s cute yellow and navy bedding. (above)

What room is your favorite?

Again, have to go get ready for work and make it in for an early morning meeting. Oh boy. Running now!

All of those rooms are beautiful but where/how do I find the moldings like in the 4th picture. Talk about a beautiful detail. I attempted googling for “cake molding” like you called, but it just results in baking molds. Not quite the same haha.

ADORE the dressing room. If this were my dressing room, I would never leave it. I would have my girlfriends over for martini parties or afternoon tea in that room.

I love the Brownstone! The way that they blended the modern elements with softer, more cottage components (such as the slipcovered chairs) make it eclectic and interesting. I also adore Kelly Wearstler’s trellis wallpaper… very fresh!

I LOVE the details in the brown staircase, I am dying to know how it was done? Was it free handed? How did you do it?
    Thanks, Vanessa

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨

Sharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. ESharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. Every day for the last few months has been the greatest day ever here. Even days that are not event filled feel special in Paris.
Started with French class on this day. I was taking classes at L'Alliance Français because living here means actually trying to belong here and speak the language.
Then off to the Hôtel de Crillon @rosewoodhoteldecrillon ,a historic palace hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde, known for its timeless interiors and quiet kind of luxury, catching up with a friend like it was the most ordinary thing...in extraordinary place.
So even though nothing momentous happened...wanted to show you what my every greatest day life looks like in Paris.
This city keeps surprising me. 🖤

A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not overpowering, just enough to warm everything up, walls, upholstery, even the smallest details.
It shifts the mood completely. Calmer, softer, and a little more lived in.
Save this if you’re leaning toward softer, warmer spaces. 🌸

What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so hard to look away from is the deliberate clash Sophie Dries @sophiedries_ created and didn’t try to resolve.
The bones of the apartment are pure Haussmann: ornate cornicing, carved boiserie, a marble fireplace with a gilded mirror. Everything a 19th-century Parisian apartment should be. Then she placed a near-black dining table with brass-legged stools into the middle of it. A raw concrete-look bathroom behind the grandeur. Dark, sculptural objects on surfaces that were built for delicate things.
It works because she didn’t try to blend the two, she let them sit in contrast. The apartment feels lived-in and specific because of it.
→ Save this if you’re mixing old architecture with contemporary furniture.

From classic to modern, rustic to minimal, the pap From classic to modern, rustic to minimal, the paper lantern just fits. It softens the room, diffuses the light, and rounds out even the sharpest architectural edges without demanding any attention. 🏮
Are you into paper lanterns, or do you prefer a more structured statement light? 🧐
