Cement Tile Update

BEFORE – I can’t believe this is how the balcony looked when I first bought the house. It’s come a long way from the salmon-colored ceramic tile that looked very 80s!

Here I am cleaning off the balcony. Tiara Parker-Ragland, owner of Almost Anything Inc., is in the background there – she acted as project manager helping coordinate the logistics side of restoring this beautiful home.

I decided to match the back balcony tile with the front because I like the idea seeing this particular tile reiterated in two places. The tile pattern I chose has a Moorish/Spanish feel – I think goes well with this 1930 California Spanish Colonial Revival style of a home.

The darker tones in the tile matches house’s soft black trim. The classic quatrefoil design brings old world charm to our modern update. Architecturally, the home is amazing – I love the Juliette balcony off an upstairs bedroom and the wonderful round tower at the center of the house.

Final reveal, I have decked out the balcony with some furniture and plants. Can’t wait to show you guys!

Just as a reminder, here’s how these cement tiles look in the front of the house. They add they add a pop to the curb appeal as you approach the house. The tile also blends in so well with the existing architecture like the iron railing and the large arched front door that we painted a lovely greenish blue.
