BATH WEEK: PLUCKY POWDER ROOMS!

June 23, 2010

A mirrored chest of drawers has been transformed into a vanity with sink in this home’s powder room…the gilt mirror, shaded sconces and the pink “fan” wallpaper all create a feeling of decadent luxe. (above)

Day 3 of BATH WEEK on COCOCOZY! Thank you for your reader submissions. Will be doing a whole post on those…so if you have more remodel or great bath photos, please send in…designers and non-designers alike.

Now onto today’s BATH WEEK post…

Webster’s definition of the word “plucky” is “marked by courage”, “spirited”, “brave”.

These small powder rooms fit the design definition of “plucky” to the tee. All are quite courageous with design, they are certainly spirited and lively in feel, and the designers were brave in making well edited but bold decor statements.

Think if one is going to get plucky in their decorating…a small powder room is the place to do it! Hope you enjoy!

Which of these baths is your favorite? How plucky would you get with powder room design?

Have a great Wednesday!

xo,
Coco

Really love the first bathroom and the way the paper reflects off the mirrored base and the base all but disappears

I think the one by Palmer Weiss is my favorite! I love how creative people have gotten in powder rooms – when we redo our powder room (really a full bath – but for our guests) I really want to do something fun and plucky! I just have to keep it somewhat relatable to most people since we won’t be living her forever!

Before you start moving furniture, ask yourself thBefore you start moving furniture, ask yourself these three questions:
Does this improve the room’s function?
Does it create a better focal point?
Does it make the space easier to walk through?
If the answer is “no” to all three, maybe it’s just the rearranging itch talking. 😅
Save this for the next time you’re tempted to move every piece of furniture in your house.

Summer sale season is here, and we are not holding back. 👏
This is the time of year to finally grab those pieces you’ve been eyeing all season. The good news? Major markdowns are happening right now across some of the best brands.
Our tip: Shop with intention. Know your palette, know your fit, and choose pieces that work with what you already own, not just because they’re on sale.
We’ve already done the hard work and created a Summer Sale Shopping Board filled with our favorite finds. A Shopping Board is like your own storefront. It’s a curated collection of products you can shop yourself or share with others to earn when they purchase through your links.

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤
