Gift Guides

The Best Gifts for Book Lovers

December 10, 2019
  • Share

The gift guides just keep on coming – today is all about the best gifts for book lovers. I still can’t believe how fast the holidays are sneaking in. I feel like fall just started! Get ahead and start thinking about gifts before it’s too late. From gifts that include books to gifts that aren’t books, I cover something perfect for every book lover out there.

A LUXURIOUS NOTEBOOK

share

Notebook 1, Notebook 2, Notebook 3

I think it’s fair to say most people who appreciate printed books also appreciate a quality notebook. While these options are a bit pricey for a notebook they make a great gift! There are many people who lust over expensive notebooks but would never buy one for themselves. I personally am a huge fan of Notebook 1 – you can buy replacement pages when you run out and keep the leather exterior for years to come.

INTERESTING BOOKENDS

share

Bookend 1, Bookend 2, Bookend 3

Have a friend who is really into books but also may have an interest in interior design? A cool set of bookends could be the perfect gift. Obviously it helps if you know their style and what would work with their home, but each of these styles is pretty minimal in design. Bookends can really spice up a bookshelf and add the perfect detail that it’s been missing.

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

share

Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, Book 4, Book 5, Book 6

Now picking out books for an avid reader can be a challenge. It’s tough to know what they have already read, what’s on their reading list, or even what genre they are into right now. A great way to gift a book lover a book – is a coffee table book. Much less room for error it’s pretty easy to find a gorgeous book in an area of their interests. Perhaps they are interested in interiors, fashion, entertaining, food, art, etc. there really is a coffee table book for everyone.

CANDLES THAT SMELL LIKE BOOKS

share

Candle 1, Candle 2, Candle 3

What a great way to remind a book lover of their favorite hobby! A book scented candle to either set the mood for reading – or bring a familiar scent to other situations. A bit of a witty gift, a book scented candle sounds like a great idea to me! From low end to high end there is a candle for all budgets. The homesick candle brand is very trendy right now and economically priced at under $30.

BATHTUB TRAYS

share

Bath Tray 1, Bath Tray 2, Bath Tray 3

We all know someone who is crazy about baths and reading. I have personally struggled while trying to take a bath and read at the same time. These bathtub trays are a brilliant idea and make the perfect gift. There are so many different styles on the market that you can find something that fits every need + aesthetic.

BOOK TOTES

share

Tote Bag 1, Tote Bag 2, Tote Bag 3

Tote bags are super handy for a variety of purposes – but for a book lover, a sturdy tote bag is a must-have for transportation. There is nothing worse than a tote bag that wears out too quickly. These options are a bit pricey than a tradition canvas tote, but they should hold up much much longer. I love each of these tote bags!

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming
“Be patient with yourself it has been a funky fe “Be patient with yourself it has been a funky few months in the world.” My friend Manon texted this advice to me today. She is right. A little patience and a lot of kindness to yourself and to others during these unusual times will go a long way.

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
