interiorsI had to look up the word megatrend. I was trying to find some word to describe the ongoing, non-stop brass hardware phenomenon that has been going on for the last half a decade in interior design, home decor, kitchen and bath design. There are fads (short lived societal fancies), trends (a general direction things are moving) and then there are megatrends. A megatrend is a major shift or movement. Today, I am hereby pronouncing the use of brass hardware, knobs, handles and pulls as a megatrend. It is not going away. About 5 or 6 years ago when the revival of brass in the home started…it seemed like bringing back 1970s style shiny brass was the next home design fad that would fade. The issue was…brass looked good…hard for it to hold onto fad status…
Coupled with its good looks in the right setting and the timing of the explosion of social media, the word was out about brass a few years ago…and then there was no looking back.

I have to agree. I will say ‘modern’ brass hardware does look great as it’s a little more satin, then some of the older brass hardware, which was much more reflective. The Satin look gives it a more modern appearance
