BRICK WORKS WONDERS ON A STYLISH HOLLYWOOD HILLS PATIO!

ariel view of a brick lined outdoor patio with metal lawn chairs with neutral cushions, a matching sofa, a small brick fountain and lots of potted plants

I love this patio from designer Mark D. Sikes.  A charming Hollywood Hills brick lined outdoor space. A wonderful garden…the perfect backyard.  It works.  The iron outdoor furniture with light cushions and gingham decorative pillows, the blue and white garden stools and accents, the manicured boxwood topiaries and all of the brick laid in a herringbone pattern.

Lovely outdoor living.

What do you think of this garden?  Too much brick or just right?

Happy Friday!

P.S.  Sorry I didn’t post yesterday.  Was running around like a chicken with no head as usual.  Had lunch at my favorite restaurant on the upper east side called Le Bilbouquet with best of friend AM, met a mayor of major NJ city, window shopped in Soho and had dinner on the water.  It was a full and wonderful day.

P.P.S.  Supposed to go to lunch with good friend A.Ro. today.  Need to call her!

P.P.P.S.  I must say a huge thank you to CM and LH back at COCOCOZY HQ who did so much wonderful work to make sure everything at the COCOCOZY booth at the New York International Gift Fair was perfect.   CM has been holding down the fort too while I’ve been gone.  Doing an amazing job as usual.  Thank you. Thank you.

P.P.P.P.S.  Must also say thank you to MK and EP who did such an awesome job helping me out in the booth during the trade show and who are just all around nice people.  Will miss you guys!

P.P.P.P.P.S.  Have been staying with best of friend AM and her hubby JE and their cute kiddies while here in NYC…it has been so much fun…they are like family.  One night I got home late after going to dinner with A.Ro. and I was sitting on AM and JE’s bed telling them about the day…before I knew it I had passed out on their bed with them in it and I woke up at 4am!  Good friends!  Right?

P.P.P.P.P.P.S.  Hope you have a great weekend!

I think it’s gorgeous! I love white washed brick so this really struck a cord with me. I love all of the levels and areas too – many little touches for LOTS of personality.

I think all the brick is really the show stopper and also really helps in allowing all that beautiful greenery to stand out. I love it!

Please ask Mark, who commented above, who is the patio furniture manufacturer?

Shhhh….Let’s keep le bilboquet our secret! Elle McPherson and Matt Lauer took me there for lunch 17 years ago and it’s been my favorite ever since. Fantastic people watching, Cajun chicken to die for!

I’ve always wanted a brick patio like that. I wonder if it’s riddled with weeds between the bricks, or whether there’s some kind of grout that can keep them out.

Wow! What a patio! I could spend a lot of time at that patio just reading a book or simply entertaining friends! Very relaxing. I also liked the outdoor living furniture used. The place is great!

I visited a new friend Amy, founder of Keur-Amy LaI visited a new friend Amy, founder of Keur-Amy Langseth @keuramylangseth at her studio and left completely obsessed! Every bag she makes is intentional, considered, and honestly unliIke anything I’ve seen. The kind of craftsmanship you don’t stumble upon easily.
She’s still under the radar. For now. 😌

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨

Sharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. ESharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. Every day for the last few months has been the greatest day ever here. Even days that are not event filled feel special in Paris.
Started with French class on this day. I was taking classes at L'Alliance Français because living here means actually trying to belong here and speak the language.
Then off to the Hôtel de Crillon @rosewoodhoteldecrillon ,a historic palace hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde, known for its timeless interiors and quiet kind of luxury, catching up with a friend like it was the most ordinary thing...in extraordinary place.
So even though nothing momentous happened...wanted to show you what my every greatest day life looks like in Paris.
This city keeps surprising me. 🖤

A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not overpowering, just enough to warm everything up, walls, upholstery, even the smallest details.
It shifts the mood completely. Calmer, softer, and a little more lived in.
Save this if you’re leaning toward softer, warmer spaces. 🌸

What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so What makes the Saint-Martin Apartment in Paris so hard to look away from is the deliberate clash Sophie Dries @sophiedries_ created and didn’t try to resolve.
The bones of the apartment are pure Haussmann: ornate cornicing, carved boiserie, a marble fireplace with a gilded mirror. Everything a 19th-century Parisian apartment should be. Then she placed a near-black dining table with brass-legged stools into the middle of it. A raw concrete-look bathroom behind the grandeur. Dark, sculptural objects on surfaces that were built for delicate things.
It works because she didn’t try to blend the two, she let them sit in contrast. The apartment feels lived-in and specific because of it.
→ Save this if you’re mixing old architecture with contemporary furniture.
