5 International Modern Mountain Houses – Snowed In

Modern Mountain Houses Snow House Exterior

On a Friday where a significant part of the country is looking at mountains of snow on the horizon, I thought I would bring you 5 modern mountain houses from around the world. This post is one where I pose a question to you… Can a really ultra modern space be warm and cozy enough in an icy snowing enviroment? Would a modern mountain house work for you?

With that question in mind…take a quick view of these 5 modern mountain houses.
1. Split View Mountain Lodge – Geilo, Norway (above and below)

2. L- House – Niseko, Japan

3. La Muna – Aspen, COLa-Muna-exterior-winter-cococozyModern Mountain Houses La Luna Living RoomLa-Muna-living-room-dining-room-cococozy

4. Four-Cornered Villa – Lake Vaskievsi, FinlandFour-Cornered-Villa-by-Ville-Hara-and-Anu-Puustinen Minimalist-Interior-Design-and-Full-Wall-Windows-of-Four-Cornered-Villa-cococozy

5. Sugarbowl House – Norden, Californiasugarbowl-house-cococozy-2living-room-sugarbowl-house-cococozy-2

Of these 5 houses, from the exterior, I love the first…I think it is so beautiful in the snow.  A modern winter cabin with lots of windows.  On the interior, I like the Aspen house the best, because it is the warmest looking inside…a very very modern rustic appeal…more modern than rustic though.

What do you think?  Would love to hear if any of these work for you.

I love all the natural light and the views these homes have.

Low light. Lacquered walls. A kitchen wrapped in hand-patinated brass. An antique mirrored bath with painted bamboo panels. A bedroom in floor-to-ceiling leopard print that somehow feels calm. Maximalism that whispers.

Stay tuned. Lol.
