Brooklyn Townhouse Remodel Revisited

This is that Same Living Room After…amazing!

Years ago, Jenna Lyons, J. Crew Creative Director extraordinaire, had her self-designed NYC brownstone featured in Domino magazine.  I remember thinking that her design sense was quite fresh. Shortly after that feature, she sold her home and celebrity design firm Roman and Williams were called in to execute this fabulous Brooklyn townhouse remodel.  This is a remodel that took place years ago but thanks to the wonderful world of the interweb, I just discovered it!!!  Woot woot.   I have to admit, I think I might even like their version a bit better (is it okay to put that out there?? hope so…).

Bright whites, large gold mirrors, rich cabinets and footed bathtubs, chandeliers, leather statement furniture pieces, and a delicate Japanese cherry blossom design on the walls…so many W O W factors here, really smart elements that make this townhouse truly timeless.

Enjoy this home tour, it is one of my favorites by far…what do you think? Is my love for this NYC brownstone justified??

Yes! I could definitely live there. Just one objection: some of those vintage leather chairs in the dining room look very uncomfortable. I love the white rather than the black bedroom & bathroom of Lyons years.
    Happy 4th. xoxo Mary

The living room is so much brighter and feels much more open! I love it! The power of paint is wonderful!

It is warmer here now, but these were the looks I It is warmer here now, but these were the looks I reached for in Paris when the days were still cold. ❄️
I remember building each outfit around a coat or a scarf, with comfortable shoes that could take me anywhere, knowing I would be out for hours just walking.
Nothing overthought, just pieces that felt right for the pace of the day.
What would be your OOTD for a cold day in Paris?
If you want to shop these looks, comment SHOP and I will send you the link.

It started with an invitation. I met @hugobesnier_ It started with an invitation. I met @hugobesnier_ , founder and designer of luxury furniture brand @hartisparis_ at a small gathering in the 7ème, near the Musée d’Orsay. I was there with my new friends, Scarlette and Sarah.
The apartment itself was incredible! Tall ceilings, terrazzo floors, right along the Seine, but what really stood out was the furniture.
Turns out, it was Hugo's exquisite work.
The pieces are designed around everyday gestures: sitting, leaning, resting, but interpreted in a way that feels elevated and intentional. There’s a balance of structure and softness, where architectural lines meet more organic textures and forms.
He invited me back the next day to see everything more clearly, outside of the party setting, and it completely changed how I experienced it. The pieces feel intentional and refined, with a strong focus on material and form.
Sharing a closer look at his work here.
My Paris dream life keeps happening again and again!
