CHEAP TO CHIC: ON THE EDGE WITH A CLASSIC DINNERWARE PATTERN!

April 24, 2009
  • Share

White porcelain, rimmed in light blue and edged in polished platinum dinnerware from William Sonoma Home
William Sonoma Home – Knightsbridge Dinnerware – on sale $8.99-14.99 (Made in Portugal. White porcelain, rimmed in color and edged by hand in polished gold or platinum. Dinner plate, charger, soup bowl, salad/dessert plate, cup and saucer available) (above)

A band of classic color, a metallic rim and classic glossy white porcelain, bone china, earthenware or stoneware. This is the combination that makes up one of the most timeless dinnerware patterns around.

Whether dining casually or more formally, it seems this pattern works. I love the idea of sitting around a kitchen table or breakfast area and enjoying a light morning meal on these plates. Oh wait, maybe even better an informal garden lunch or a traditional afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, petit fours and other light snacks. Lastly, can definitely imagine this dishware adding classic style to a table set for a very formal dinner in a grand dining room.

Also think about mixing and matching these with other dishes you might have in your china cabinet…could make for a great tabletop medley!

Love the simplicity. Also, love these prices!!

I love the top image, with the blue from the plate echoed in the flowers. Gorgeous.

Natural light is the one thing every room has in c Natural light is the one thing every room has in common here, but the window shape, wall material, and time of day make each one feel like an entirely different experience. ☀️
It’s a reminder that light isn’t just a condition in a room. It’s a design decision.
→ Save this if you’re thinking about how light works in your own space.

Every bag she makes is intentional, considered, and honestly unliIke anything I’ve seen. The kind of craftsmanship you don’t stumble upon easily.
She’s still under the radar. For now. 😌

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨

Sharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. ESharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. Every day for the last few months has been the greatest day ever here. Even days that are not event filled feel special in Paris.
Started with French class on this day. I was taking classes at L'Alliance Français because living here means actually trying to belong here and speak the language.
Then off to the Hôtel de Crillon @rosewoodhoteldecrillon ,a historic palace hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde, known for its timeless interiors and quiet kind of luxury, catching up with a friend like it was the most ordinary thing...in extraordinary place.
So even though nothing momentous happened...wanted to show you what my every greatest day life looks like in Paris.
This city keeps surprising me. 🖤

A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not overpowering, just enough to warm everything up, walls, upholstery, even the smallest details.
It shifts the mood completely. Calmer, softer, and a little more lived in.
Save this if you’re leaning toward softer, warmer spaces. 🌸
