Clare Paint – Nicole Gibbons the Ultimate Girl Boss

October 25, 2018
  • Share

My friend and fellow blogger Nicole Gibbons just launched her own paint company a few months back named Clare Paint, and it is already making a name for itself in the paint world.

I met Nicole 10 years ago when we were part of the first wave of design bloggers. She was a PR executive, blogging on the side, and then she quit her job to become a full time influencer and interior designer too. She and I became friends and always have made a point to meet up whenever either of us is in the other’s hometown. She is smart, stylish and a true boss lady! I am so happy for her. She came up with an idea and then raised $2M!!!

Over a dinner awhile back, she told me about her journey to raise the money. Her perseverance is amazing. Inspirational really. She is super hardworking and really knows how to hustle and get things done. Her bright idea turned into a big reality!

Now she has this awesome company that makes shopping for paint super easy!

Clare’s Founder and CEO (and great friend of mine) Nicole Gibbons is an interior designer and entrepreneur known for her impeccable use of colors and her expertise featured on HGTV, OWN and TLC as well as Elle Decor and Better Homes & Gardens. Prior to a career in interior design, she spent almost a decade managing PR for large retail brands.

Nicole’s design background has helped her develop and bring a unique look at the paint industry. She was able to identify that the industry was ready for a different type of paint that exemplified simplicity and creativity. And with Clare, she sought out to create a paint company specifically marketed to digitally-driven people who wanted to create spaces they loved.

Nicole named Clare (/Klaire/) after the Latin word “clarus,” for “clear, bright, shining, and brilliant to the sight.” And that’s exactly the what these colors exemplify. Clare Paints stands for realness, creativity and connectivity to the consumer through optimism and forward-looking tones. It is a fresh perspective that stands out and leads the way forward for a new type of paint company.

I remember when I started blogging at the same time as Nicole. We met at some event and became friends years ago. And when she told me her idea a few years back, I knew she was onto something. Now her business is a huge success. I couldn’t be more excited for her!

What Makes Clare Different

Paint really has the power to completely transform a space. But for those of us that have tried to change a room, it can really be a headache, shopping between thousands of colors, not-so-great ingredients or lack of guidance. That’s where Clare comes in. By making painting fun, not a hassle, and by offering a different, better way to shop for paint.

Nicole reviewed hundreds of color formulations to create the perfect 55 colors. Not just known for its great performance. Clare is also self-priming, low-odor and dirt, grime, & mildew resistant. Their formula contributes to healthier indoor air environments because all Clare’s paint is free of toxic air contaminants, hazardous air pollutants and every chemical on the EPA chemicals of concern list.

“We call it paint, perfected.” –Clare Paint

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
