A hot pink sofa and hot pink bar stools make a bright and bold statement in a modern New York loft! (above)
I’m not a big pink person. Unlike some of my dearest friends who love pink and have pink touches all over their homes and even wear pink from time to time…I’m a bit afraid of pink in home decor (and in fashion). Don’t know why…maybe it is because pink reminds me of 8 year old girls and princess dresses? Don’t know. Maybe because whenever I’ve tried to incorporate pink into my wardrobe, I accidentally pair it with black and then feel like that Good & Plenty candy. I admit…I have had a case of pink-a-phobia over the years. I don’t own anything pink, I don’t have anything pink in my house and if I see pink, I sometimes cringe.
After seeing this New York City loft from interior designer Ghislaine Vinas, I may have conquered my fear of pink. I really like this space that is filled with pops of pink.
This is a cool modern city apartment where the pink touches add cheerful accents of color. Cheerful pink highlights that work for me (a self admitted pink-a-phobic). Just the right amount of pink!
Thank you Ghislaine for curing my aversion to pink. Who knows, I might have to actually add a little pink into my home, wardrobe…into my life! Wish me luck!
Open kitchen’s backsplash is painted hot pink too…a perfect match for the counter stools.(above)
The grey concrete kitchen island counter perfectly balances and blends with the pink accents in the home. (above)
Love the pink closet door and built in shelving. Great idea for adding color to wall space without painting the whole room. (above)
How do you feel about pink?
Hope you have a great Friday and that thinking pink is working for you!

I am an interior designer and I love this loft! and pink plays so good here! And I have the same fobia for pink too, no pink in my life 🙂 you were reading my mind.. but maybe its time for some change.
thanks for the post. The color scheme was actually based on a hot pink streak in my clients hair. Funny holding paint chips to her head.
If pink is made to be not so pretty it can actually look cool

just one more note
the photography is by Eric Laignel and also by Hallie Burton
i love that striped rug.
i like the pink in this loft. it is a good shade that makes it fresh and no so…pinky i guess. wow, can you imagine doing a hot pink backsplash in your kitchen, gutsy!
What’s the story with the text pillows?
How do I fee about the pink, its such a happy color, but I wouldn’t want to have as much as they have in the apartment, but it works for them.
I’m interested in the pillows… Where’d those come from?
Being English, I call them cushions (and I have always wondered how you differentiate between a pillow and a cushion if one word is used for both?!) and would also like to know the story behind the buzz-word cushions. I am assuming they are bespoke – but perhaps not?
I used to detest pink in my younger years. And I think it had something to do with memories of my grandmother chasing me around with pink dresses(something I also used to dislike) but now I’ve found as I look around my home pink has begun to invade it and I’m not a bit afraid 😉 ( we’re still working on dresses) this pink here is definitely a welcome change from drearier family rooms it brings out the happiness in family life with an unexpected touch of bright.
I must say those pink and white bookshelves would look better if the colors were reversed, but you what, they still work.
I do like pink and gray together but would definitely overeat around all that stimulating hot pink. The gray concrete island, however, would have me licking it like a deer to a salt block! Yum.

Love that candy-stripe carpet to tie all those fabulous colors together.
yeah that carpet gives a colorful ambiance to the room, fabulous.
Very cool design
I would have liked to have seen some other colors used with the pink. There are many colors that could have been pulled from the rug that could have been placed in the room with the pink.
Any idea where to find the hot pink counter stools? Love the pink!
Hi Andrea,
These look like Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 chairs/counter stools. I know the chair version comes in a variety of colors…including pink!
Best,
Coco
