AMAZING COLORFUL SOFAS

April 2, 2015

Colorful sofas - turquoise sofa

The other day I gave my living room chair to my neighbor. It was my attempt to streamline things in my little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills. Now I am thinking of donating my sofa. What should I do next? I currently have a traditional slip covered sofa with brown piping sitting under my beloved Brian Wills painting. I like it…but may be time to change things up.

I tend to be drawn to white, grey or navy sofas. What if though, I went out of my comfort zone and thought in terms of bold color for a sofa? Would that work? Take a white room, add in a nice neutral rug, some tasteful accent pieces then a boldly colored sofa. I think the most popular color for sofas must be beige – safe, restrained, neurtral, no risk involved.

2015 is about moving out of my comfort zone into bold and advernture. Would picking a bright colored sofa be the key?  Thinking???

P.S.  Had a great dinner at Soho House last night with best of friend AM’s husband JE and 10 of his friends!  Was great catching up with TH and meeting some others.   A nice evening.  Tonight I am going back to Soho House with TE and his son and his friends.  Will be fun.

P.P.S.  Check out COCOCOZY Youtube Channel to see a video featuring a cool fully cement tile green shower with copper fittings.  Just a random design non-sequitur.  A video I took for my guy TE as we are in the midst of a tile hunt for our house remodel in Malibu.

Wish you had reposted the pic of your sofa and that amazing painting. Hard to remember if it would be too much color in one spot or just fab….

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
