DESIGN IDEA: DIVIDE AND CONQUER!

March 22, 2012

Floor to ceiling bookshelf stuffed with books dividing a small, white room with purple pillows in two

Have a room and need to create multiple spaces?  Here is an idea…a floor to ceiling bookshelf dividing a small space.

I like!  What do you think?  Would a room dividing screen work better for you…or how about a plain old fashioned wall?  Please let me know!

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  Have been running around like a chicken with no head this week.  Went to a fab event on Tuesday at designer Michael Smith’s gorgeous showroom called Jasper.  Oooh la la la la la la.  Lovely things throught the showroom including antique dealer Liz O’Brien’s new furniture line.  Saw and talked to lots of L.A. and NY design community including the ever so chic Margaret Russell who is the editor-in-chief of Architectural Digest.

P.P.S.  Tonight going to a celebrity studded event at the Restoration Hardware showroom.  I RSVP’d for me +4!  The p.r. people were very nice and said that my guests are welcome!  FANTASTICO!!!!!

P.P.P.S.  Regular work couldn’t be busier!  Oy.

P.P.P.P.S.  Best of friend FF invited me to Vail this weekend to her 9,000 square foot ski chalet.  Oh dear…don’t think I can make it.  Darn.

P.P.P.P.P.S.  Just closed a very exciting business deal for COCOCOZY!  Will announce it soon.  Thanks to agent SM for getting it closed.  And can’t wait to get started working with TW, JM, CC and team!  Woot woot woot!

P.P.P.P.P.S.  Late to work.

P.P.P.P.P.P.S.  My sis DS looked stunning last night as she was honored and won an award.  She was wearing a GORGEOUS Prada dress…she looked so elegant.  I am so proud of her.

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S  Oy…gotta run.  Hope you all have a terrific day!

The bookshelf, instead of a solid wall, is a great choice. It is functional and also adds a nice piece of color to the space. Nice work.

Life doesn’t always look the way we imagined it woLife doesn’t always look the way we imagined it would.
There will be seasons when everything seems to be falling into place, and seasons when we’re simply trying to find our footing again.
Both matter.
You don’t have to rush through the hard seasons or feel behind because you’re not where you thought you’d be.
Give yourself permission to grow at your own pace. What’s happening beneath the surface matters too.
Trust the process. Trust your timing. Keep going. ✨

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎

Which chandelier would you steal for your own home Which chandelier would you steal for your own home? Drop your answer 👇
The right chandelier doesn’t just light a room, it becomes the room. Scale, material, placement. When it’s done right, everything else arranges itself around it.
Save this for your next lighting inspo and follow for more. 🖤

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨
