European Style Outdoor Patio Ideas for Spring

March 29, 2023
  • Share

Do you ever search for a specific thing online and then somehow end up down a rabbit hole? Well…I just did that. I was looking for architectural inspiration. Specifically, beautiful greenhouse designs. I haven’t posted about a greenhouse in a while. Somehow during my search, I ended up virtually touring a London townhouse. And then a light bulb went off. I discovered incredible European-style outdoor patio designs. So today’s blog is going to be about bringing European styles to your own backyard. Spring is around the corner so why not spruce up our outdoor patios? But this time with a European twist. Check out some of my favorite European-style outdoor patio ideas below.

How To Bring European Style to Your Outdoor Patio?

Transforming your patio into a charming French garden isn’t as hard as you think. Style the patio by incorporating natural wooden furniture and natural stone. If you’re entertaining then add neutral linens and elegant white plates. Elevate your outdoor space with ceramic and stone vases full of wildflowers and a large bowl of oranges or deep purple figs. Grow lavender in pots for a heavenly scent. The key to a European-style outdoor patio is creating a warm and inviting space for friends and family to hangout.

Outdoor Lighting Ideas

Set the mood for your outdoor patio design. European-style lighting includes lanterns, string lights, glass, and curved shapes. It’s really all about the detail. Euro-style includes a more ornate design for a luxurious aesthetic. Creating a beautiful ambiance will help elevate a patio into a euro-style patio.

A few years ago I redid my upper patio. It completely changed the way I entertain. I love sitting up there with my friends and sipping wine. It’s one of my favorite spots in my house. Or maybe it is my favorite spot! However. France is one of my favorite places in the world. I love exploring the French gardens. Nothing is more inspirational than traveling around Europe. I think I need to book a trip soon.

Coco

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
What’s your favorite parquet pattern?

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
