Fall Trend: Earth Tones in Interior Creations for Fall 2022

September 6, 2022
  • Share

Fall trends usually include farmhouse decor, warm tones, and muted color palettes. However, a trend for this upcoming season is focusing specifically on earth tones. It creates a calming ambiance within a home. Designers are incorporating shades of blues, greens, oranges, and browns. They’re even going bolder and becoming more playful with combinations of colors to add character to their projects. Interior designer, Stephanie Sabbe, loves to include rich color palettes in her designs. Her Nashville project, called Woodmont, is the perfect home for fall inspiration. Her ability to layer earthy tones with rustic finishes transforms an old farmhouse into a charming family sanctuary.

Here is COCOCOZY’s guide to successfully adding earth tones to your home.

What Are Earth Tones?

Earth tones are colors that can be found in nature. It’s a wide array of muted tones including browns, greens, blues, oranges, and reds. Walk outside to find colors that will inspire your home design. The earth tone trend is popular for this fall season due to its comforting influence. Today, people desire softer interiors to create a zen-like home.

How to Introduce Earth Tones in Your Home?

The easiest way to introduce earth tones into your home is with paint. Nothing transforms a room like a fresh coat on the walls. Adding an earth-tone paint color will bring character into a space and create a cozy atmosphere. This season you will see a lot of rich blue walls like Benjamin Moore’s Champion Cobalt. Sabbe added a beautiful wallpaper to her butler’s pantry to add texture and contrast to the blue tone.

Once you have selected your color palette, the next step is to add rustic or farmhouse decor to achieve the fall look. A wooden stool is a great decor piece and it’s functional too. Wicker baskets are never a bag purchase. They’re great for storage and will complement your living room decor.

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
