GLOSSY CONCRETE FLOORS IN SMALL COPENHAGEN APARTMENT

March 3, 2014

glossy shiny concrete floors in a dining room

Floors in any space are key to me.  I struggled for months last year just to get the right color stain on my wide plank wood floors in my little cottage in the Hollywood Hills.  My contractor and boyfriend and mom and sister all thought I was kooky when after we finished the floors, I had the floor guy sand them down again and start over so the color was just right.  I love the floors now.  They are just the right tone with a light greyish brownish finish and with slightly beveled boards. Should do a story on my wood floors.

Anyhooo…I absolutely adore these glossy concrete floors in this Copenhagen apartment.  Love the gleam from the shiny floors and the wavy texture of the concrete.  With a floor like this, the decor can stay minimalist and simple.  The floors speak for themselves.  Res ipsa loquitur.

I love the entryway with the French doors and the white washed block walls.

To gloss or not to gloss…that is the question?

Happy Monday!

Love concrete floors but have never seen them so glossy. I wonder how well the shine holds up?

It doesn’t! At least it didn’t on mine, which cost a fortune.

I love the gloss—so clean and fluid.

Aesthetically, I love the look but I also love a matte concrete finish, which may be a bit more practical.

Ever wondered what it feels like to have the Eiffe Ever wondered what it feels like to have the Eiffel Tower as your view? These 7 Paris spaces answer that — some hotel suites, some private residences, and each one framing it completely differently. 🫶
A gilded suite where it peers through silk drapes. A terrace set for breakfast with the Tower straight ahead. Contemporary apartments where open French doors bring it almost into the room. Classic Haussmannian grandeur on one end, sculptural modern interiors on the other; same iconic backdrop, seven entirely different ways to live with it.

The approach was deliberate restraint: restored cornices kept intact, stained oak floors, limestone tones, a mix of vintage furniture and contemporary silhouettes. Every choice earning its place. The light does the rest. Bouncing off mirrors, moving through the neutral walls across the day. 🔅

That level of control is what makes the result so specific. Rich materials, sculptural forms, cinematic lighting but nothing feels decorative for its own sake. Every detail was considered as part of one complete vision, and you feel it in every room. ✨
