Today I bring you a wonderful Madrid apartment featured in Elle Decor Espana. The apartment is on an upper floor of a 19th Century building in the heart of one of Spain’s most charming cities. This is the home of lighting designer Maria Covarrubias. When Maria bought this flat she made a few updates but kept the bones in place including the original parquet hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern and the ornate crown molding. The key to her design was letting the original architecture and natural light play key roles. As a lighting designer, she supplemented what was already there as far as lighting with floor or table lighting. She furnished the space with a lot of traditional pieces but edited the look so the space feels quite modern. The mix is eclectic and includes her modern lighting designs along with elements like a painted Chinese wooden screen in the living room. Really
Cute space. Don’t you think?

P.S. Yesterday had an interesting call with PI, a very nice business person who has ideas for COCOCOZY. She has read the blog for years and read about the turn of events in my personal life that I wrote about at New Years and Christmas. She was quite nice and empathetic. You know…people are generally nice and kind. PI is a mom of two and said she is a design junkie on the side too. It was interesting what she had to say. Will keep you posted as I make some big decisions in the coming months about the COCOCOZY brand and about where I am going…the world is filled with exciting possibilities. Right? Change is exciting and scary at the same time.
P.P.S. Remember to follow me on Instagram @cococozy and on Snapchat as cococozyblog for glimpses of my day to day. Hopefully a little more design inspiration and a few amusing moments along the way. 🙂
