Hotel Design: An Incredible Array of Styles

September 19, 2019
  • Share

I’ve always been fascinated by hotel interior design. And, as boutique hotels have grown in popularity the design is getting better and better. I love searching for boutique hotels every time I travel. There’s nothing better than planning my next trip or dreaming about new places to travel. I could get lost on the internet for days exploring locations, scenery, food, and hotels. On my last travel binge, I found a handful of incredible hotels to add to my list. These hotels are all very different in design style, but all special in their own way.

ALAVYA – ALACATI, TURKEY

How quaint is this outdoor sitting area? It’s the perfect place to have breakfast or relax and read a book. I love the simple furniture and greenery in contrast to the bold patterned curtains. Those vines are incredible! I can just imagine myself lounging here soaking up some morning sun.

This bedroom is so serene. I love the light blue, light sand, and white colors. The bed has a cozy bedframe. The bright green painting in the back is strange at first, but acts as a great contrast of color and livens the space up. This space feels like a great place to vacation and relax.

This seating area is very eclectic. There is a variety of furniture styles combined with interesting architecture. The colors and shapes balance well, making the space work together. I love the large beige stone fireplace that acts as a centerpiece for the room.

This sitting area is much calmer than the other one. This space beautifully blends patterns together. The similarity of the neutral color palette keeps the patterns from becoming overwhelming. The sofa is a great design! The painting and white walls work well together.

This bedroom has a very homey feeling. It feels like a beautiful guest room at a friend’s house. I love the white wood paneling for the walls and ceiling. It adds a cozy factor. The taupe bedding is calming while the light fixtures add some fun to the room.

INHABIT – LONDON, UK

The Inhabit hotel has a mysterious contemporary design style. The main areas of the hotel are all in shades of blue. This room has some pretty interesting design aspects. The two-toned painted walls and the deep velvet teal chairs create an interesting color dynamic. I love that the chairs are paired with a light wood color.

While the other sitting area was more barren, this room is much cozier. This looks like a great place to curl up and read a book or catch up on some work. I love the blue shelving for books and other objects. The blue and grey colors make this room very calm and relaxing.

The bedroom takes on a more minimal style. Simply a bed with grey and pink bedding and some shelving for design/storage. The ladder quality of the shelving section is really interesting!

CASA LAGUNA – LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA

This Laguna Beach hotel is full of bold and flavorful design. The pattern in this room reminds me of Portugal or Morocco. I love the green headboard and the patterned backdrop. In relation to the chairs and ottoman there is a great differentiation of space and a fun color palette. This looks like a great place to stay for an energizing vacation.

This sitting area looks like an ideal place to eat breakfast, drink coffee, read a book, or just hang out. The bright blue bench is an incredible shape and style. The bright nature of the room is great and the pops of yellow spice up the color palette. I love the additions of window coverings and pillows.

This area looks like a great place to hang out in the morning or afternoon between activities. I love the patterned tile backsplash and the duo colored chairs in the back. This hotel really embraced a bold color palette but, it’s working for them! The light fixture adds an interesting and more industrial touch to the space.

So cozy and bold, this sitting area is full of personality. The fireplace is incredible and the tiles are so colorful. I love the subtle addition of ceramics on the fireplace and the bright cushions on the chairs balances with a neutral top cushion.

This bathroom is so cute! The clawfoot tub looks sensational for soaking in and the tile flooring is to die for! The blue and yellow color palette shows through to the bathroom but in a much simpler way. The yellow bathmat is the perfect dash of color.

THE WAYBACK – AUSTIN, TEXAS

This gorgeous hotel is a small boutique hotel in Austin, Texas. Just looking at this pool scene I’m already sold on taking a trip to Austin and staying here. The sunlight, greenery, and striped pool umbrellas are so stunning. We can’t forget about the pool – that looks so refreshing for a hot day or even just to lounge outside and drink some iced tea while reading a book!

The small kitchen in one of the room is so quaint and bright! I love the combo of bright yellow and white. It’s the perfect little space for when you have leftovers or want to be able to prep some small snacks. The light fixture is also a nice touch.

This bedroom looks so cozy and relaxing. Nature is literally outside the door and looks so peaceful. The all-white room with pops of blue is comforting and tranquil. I would love to stay here for a long weekend to relax, unwind, and explore Austin.

GRAND HOTEL POWERS – PARIS, FRANCE

This Paris hotel is very luxurious and covered in gemstone colors. This room focused on deep blue and yellow/gold. The headboard is a great pop of color and works well with the rest of the room. That desk chair is so unusual! I love that it is wood and cream-colored. Overall, a luxurious room with some Parisian style.

This room is grand! With a huge gold mirror, a black and gold fireplace, and a chandelier this room is fully decked out. I’m attracted to the pink rug, patterned curtains, and green sofa. These more unusual pieces look incredible with the more traditional Paris architecture.

This sitting area is stunning. I love the bold burnt orange modern sofa and the marble coffee table with metal legs. This room combines a lot of interesting shapes and style with ease. The teal and orange are great complementary colors and look amazing in the same room together.

This bedroom is over the top lavish! The deep velvet purple and deep navy are such bold colors together. Plus that chandelier and thick rug add such a different flavor to the room. Again, I love the combination of styles.

This bathroom is beautiful. So luxurious and sparkling bright. The marble and gold work together brilliantly. The double-layered mirror is interesting – and the natural light is insane. Having the marble go up the walls makes this bathroom feel more elaborate and special.

Natural light is the one thing every room has in c Natural light is the one thing every room has in common here, but the window shape, wall material, and time of day make each one feel like an entirely different experience. ☀️
It’s a reminder that light isn’t just a condition in a room. It’s a design decision.

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨

Sharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. ESharing with you a day in my life here in Paris. Every day for the last few months has been the greatest day ever here. Even days that are not event filled feel special in Paris.
Started with French class on this day. I was taking classes at L'Alliance Français because living here means actually trying to belong here and speak the language.
Then off to the Hôtel de Crillon @rosewoodhoteldecrillon ,a historic palace hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde, known for its timeless interiors and quiet kind of luxury, catching up with a friend like it was the most ordinary thing...in extraordinary place.
So even though nothing momentous happened...wanted to show you what my every greatest day life looks like in Paris.
This city keeps surprising me. 🖤

A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not A soft touch of pink, layered into the space. Not overpowering, just enough to warm everything up, walls, upholstery, even the smallest details.
It shifts the mood completely. Calmer, softer, and a little more lived in.
Save this if you’re leaning toward softer, warmer spaces. 🌸
