HOW A ANIMAL PRINT CAN GO A LONG WAY

September 8, 2011

Living room with super high ceilings, exposed beams, arched windows, herringbone wood parquet floors, a piano, and very neutral furnishings except for two upholstered zebra print chairs

I received an email from interior designer Martha Moos asking to sign up for the daily COCOCOZY email blast the other day. Her email signature had a link to her interior design site and of course I couldn’t help myself to do a little design hunting. While browsing through her portfolio, I came across these images of a home she styled in Westlake Village, CA.  The house is enormous…8000 square feet…and so is this living room!  I loved these photos of this living room with super duper high ceilings, exposed beams, arched windows, herringbone wood parquet floors, very neutral furnishings except for two upholstered zebra print chairs.  The chairs make the space…adding a punch of texture and bold pattern to the neutral space

I am personally terrified of animal prints. I bought one zebra lumbar pillow years ago and it comes out from time to time in my little den when guests come over. I like the hint of animal print here and there…but am overall terrified of it looking not quite right. My little pillow works.  That’s as adventuresome as I’ll get.  But I do like seeing a nice hide rug with a zebra print in a simply decorated room and I love the way Martha used a little more zebra print hide on these custom upholstered chairs.

Nice.

Here are some small doses of zebra. Not all together for sure…but any one of which might work in decor or even maybe try adding a bit of zebra to your wardrobe (just a touch, just a minor minor touch)!

Zebra print Hadley Bench
Hudson Boston – Hadley Bench – $2050 (above)
Zebra Cushion
Barneys New York – Zebra Cushion – $165 (above)
Zebra print Cavallino belt
Saks Fifth Avenue – Cavallino Belt – $570 (above)

How much zebra would you put in your home?  Would you ever wear any zebra?  I might do that cute x-bench above in my den (replace the zebra lumbar)!  What do you think?  Hmmm…

Thank you Martha for the photos!

Happy Thursday!

A little goes a long way. One pattern – no matter how big or how bold on one piece on a person or in a room is more than sufficient. Anymore and it gets down right tacky. And it better be a dang good imitation of it or real. No cheezy prints allowed!

I do love the zebra print, I have a zebra throw over my leather sofa – very striking…..& I do own a pair of zebra shoes, looks very smart with black clothing…

I have a zebra skin rug in the den and love it! I also have a zebra-printed on cowhide- purse (it looks like the real thing) that I carry occasionally. When I carry it, the pattern in everything else that I’m wearing is pared down…waaay down.

I do like a little zebra here and there, but just a little. I do like how she just put it on the chairs. I think a little can be elegant, but to much and it just looks tacky.

A very little goes a long way and I think I might just have one chair. Two make quite a statement even in a large space. I think a zebra bench would look good:

I like the look, but am an animal lover and the knowledge that an animal had to die for this decoration to be created makes me sad.

In the cases where the animal print is synthetic, even the reminder of the practice kills it for me.

Behind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOBehind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOCOZY bedding collection at the Welspun showroom in New York. Met with some buyers, had a fun time with the Welspun team, then capped off the weekend with a visit with friends. It is a long process to get bedding in stores across the country...showing the collections at textiles market is one of the first steps!
If you're interested in learning how I have gotten @cococozy products into stores around the country over the years including in major retailers...follow along...just one entrepreneur's journey. :)

Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celeb Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celebrate...I want to help.
I want to make a meaningful impact in our greater Los Angeles community suffering from the fires. I invite you to join me in transforming birthday wishes into support for one local organization on the ground in Pasadena/Altadena.
I have made a contribution today already to the LA Fire Relief Fund created by @victorybiblechurch in Pasadena. They are actively assisting families in need in both Pasadena and Altadena who have been affected by the devastating Eaton Fire.
Although I don't have a personal connection to Pastor DeCuir or the church, I was searching for an organization that is helping in the Altadena area. A well respected civil rights attorney I follow @leemerrittesq is on the ground helping the church members and community members with legal services in the wake of the fires. I hope by contributing to their efforts, we can extend a helping hand to those facing significant challenges during this difficult time
To donate, please visit their website at https://vbcpasadena.org/ (link in bio as well). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. Tell them you heard about them from me.
Your generosity to the Los Angeles community is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Happy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this freshHappy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this fresh chapter, I’m reminded of the beauty of starting anew and I like recommitting to goals at the top of the year. Nothing set in stone but just an overall vision of what I'd like to do and who I would hope to help along the way.
This year, my mantra is: **dream big, act boldly, treasure the small joys, continue to lead with kindness and to have as much empathy as possible for others **. Just a few things...😂
I’m also deeply committed to helping people who follow along to achieve their dreams. I'll be curating captivating interior design inspiration with COCOCOZY that will hopefully give you ideas and dreams for your own space. I will also be empowering you to realize the value of your influence with Chirpyest by earning cash back for sharing and shopping. I hope to be open about the journey of the COCOCOZY product line. I want to share real time behind the scenes how the line is being built and how we are growing Chirpyest; both examples of the not so linear journey of building businesses from the ground up. I hope these stories spark you to push your own boundaries and shake out of your comfort zones.
Lastly, in 2025, I’m committed to surrounding myself with people who have a positive vibe about them while striving to be that same light for others. Luckily, I have a great start on this with an amazing family and fantastic group of friends - a fantastic support network.
My wish for you in 2025: May this year bring you clarity, courage, and the confidence to pursue all that makes you happy.
What’s one thing you’re committing to in 2025? Let’s inspire each other in the comments! 💬❤️
Let's get to this...am ready 2025!
