If you’ve been following along, you know the house is a 1860-square-foot Spanish style house built in 1931. My goal with the interior design is to honor the original style while adding a fresh update.
In thinking about the lighting scheme of the whole house, I started with the vibe in the kitchen, living room, and dining room. I went for lighting options with discreet silhouettes and delicate lines in the living spaces and in the kitchen and bathrooms I wanted to go with some classic shapes. The house will be a bright white, which you know I LOVE!
In the kitchen I am going with a modern schoolhouse vibe on the ceiling with some lights manufactured by Lamps Plus.
My faucet is chrome in the kitchen so I’m keeping with silver metal and clear glass for those fixtures. I picked out two hanging schoolhouse style lights to frame the stove and then several matching semi-flush mounts for the rest of the kitchen. Then, lastly, I picked some black wall lights for the sink wall that will hang over the two windows above the sink.
For the master bedroom and bathroom, I am going with brass. I picked a really delicate brass wire piece for the center of the master suite and then brass lighting for inside the master bath. I think the master should feel a little more special than most!
So many decisions, so little time! I will share more lighting as we get closer to the install.
Stay tuned!
