LIVING & DINING RIGHT – 5 REASONS TO LOVE

August 6, 2013

Modern living room light herringbone wood floor black framed pictures white walls black wall sconces squishy daybed and armchair

Here are the 5 things I am loving about these two spaces…

1) Light hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern

2) Black framed pictures against a white wall

3) The color combination – blue, white, silver and black with a touch of green in the form of plants

4) The lighting – Love the 3 bold black wall sconces in the living room the two blue glass pendants in the dining room.

5) Seating – The squishy armless daybed and chair in the living room are so inviting.  The silver cafe chairs and banquette seating in the dining room are functional and stylish.

Can you name 5 more things you like about these rooms?

Happy Tuesday!

I love the Living Room arrangement, from the colors, to the layout, to the picture arrangements on the wall! Beautiful!

I love the room, except for those chairs. They look a little cheapish to me!

My own kitchen and living room have a black/white/blue color palette. The two rooms are open to each other, and in the living room I have a modern black leather sectional, and in the kitchen I have white cabinets. I used to feel like the two rooms fought against each other, but then I realized I just needed to integrate them. The blue addition used to be turquoise, but I’m now moving toward more darker, moodier blues. I’m dying to paint the walls a smoky blue, but my husband thinks the room will be too dark. What does he know?

The living room is gorgeous! Is it possible to get the name of the velvet blue sofa/daybed designer?

Old-world plasterwork meets contemporary furniture, and warm brown-stained wood quietly anchors every room. A conversation between heritage and modernity that never raises its voice. By @atelierdaaa 🤍

Red rooms. No half measures, no accent walls. Just Red rooms. No half measures, no accent walls. Just full, total, committed red.
From crimson kitchens to scarlet bathrooms, swipe through the spaces that prove one color is always enough.

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
