Interested to know what you think of the modern tufted sofa with tufting all over it. Modern lines, classic upholstering technique all amped up for the year 2014. Full on tufting on a sofa.
Love this first living room above created by interior designer Casey Debois of Debois Design! The neutral off white tufted sofa completes the look.
Tufting of furniture is still on trend as it has been for years. Upholsterers thread through layers of fabric or leather, often in a pattern, and securing the ends of the thread with a knot or button. The dense clusters that this technique creates are known as “tufts.
Here’s where I stand. I really like the look but I don’t know whether I would personally figure out away to incorporate the look into my own home. TE…any thoughts? I love the way a full tufted modern sofa it adds visual texture to a contemporary space. I do love a dash of tufting in the form of a side chair, ottoman, or bench. These sofas raise the bar…I like the look!
All of the sofas here are off white or beige…I think this could be great in a dark blue velvet or a charcoal gray.

Astor Tufted Sofa – Dwell Studio – $2550 (above) |
My favorite of the sofas above is of course the Jonathan Adler…that marries mid century lines with classic technique.
What do you think?
Happy Wednesday!

P.S. Fab dinner last night for intern JRH. Her mom JH made Korean barbecue on the grill for us all at their home in the Hollywood Hills. We sat under a row of lights on their beautiful brick patio and laughed with JRH, her dad and mom. TE and I had a great time. JH, the mom, is a great hostess. Wishing JRH a fabulous senior year at University of Syracuse! Will miss her!
