My Living Room Flower Arrangement Options

COCOCOZY Living Room Flower Arrangement Hydrangea

Today’s post is simple. You help me decide which flower arrangement you like best.

Over the last few weeks, I have had googobs of different flowers pass through my house. I, being the design geek I am, have had so much fun placing pretty floral arrangements here and there throughout my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills.  Who doesn’t love a pretty flower arrangement?  Clearly I do. I have rearranged my coffee table settings to accommodate the arrangements (click here to see our video ). I have gotten rid of some side tables by my bed so my white roses would look even better (check out COCOCOZY Instagram to see old wood side tables and the replacement vintage glass side table that looks sooooo much better).   I have sniffed the flowers, I have Snapchatted the flowers, I have gazed at the flowers.  It is simple…a beautiful flower arrangement or even just grocery store bought flowers make me happy.

I am a fan of flowers that are not too fragrant.  I tend to go for white and green arrangements. From time to time I like a deep purple flower in the house or orange flowers for outdoors.  Here are my top four types of flowers in case you were wondering:

COCO’s Top 4 Flowers

  • White Daisies – Bright cheerful happy unpretentious
  • White Phalaenopsis Orchids – Love a the elegance of long potted orchid.  I usually have a few around the house.  They last so long.  It is nice to come home to flowers in the house every night.
  • Hydrangea – These remind me of my visits to Nantucket.  I will take Hydrangea in any color.  The pom poms of flowers are just wonderfully pretty.
  • Roses – Would pretty much take roses in any color.  Might be considered cliche by some but to me they are just pretty.  My grandmother grew roses and they always remind me of her.

I stopped here at 4 because these are my favorite.  I know every blogger, designer, aristocrat, style maven and my dear best friend AM all would put Peonies on their list.  Look…if someone wants to give me Peonies…I would certainly lovingly accept them and welcome them…but, honestly, I was at the flower mart the other day, where Peonies were available and I decided to pass on them.  I like Peonies and will buy them from time to time but I am not on the Peony bandwagon.  Does that mean I have bad taste?  Well if I do, so be it.  Hand me a bunch of cheap cheerful Daises any day and I would be just as happy.  Just to note – best of friend is not on Peony bandwagon…she grew up with peonies in her mother’s garden AND about 9 years ago her wedding to her sweet husband JE was filled with Peonies wall to wall that she had flown into New York during the month of February!  AM is a Peony trailblazer.  😉

Wanted to give you peek of my living room and the different flower options.  Let me know which you like best.  You will notice the pillows on the sofa….most of them except the coral ones our my own designs and available in our COCOCOZY Shop.

WHITE HYDRANGEA – I bought these at the grocery store, cut them and threw them into a glass vase shaped like an urn.  Simple, easy, pretty, no fuss.

My brown COCOCOZY Logo pillow is in the background on the sofa. Love this whole neutral tone look with the turquoise Brian Wills painting on the wall.

WHITE ROSES – This little arrangement cost me $45 dollars and was for beside my bed.  I liked it so much I used it in the living room.

YELLOW ROSES – These yellow beauties came from my favorite florist in town.  They were given to me as a gift.  Yellow is not my first flower color choice but I was so surprised how happy these yellow lovelies made me.  Will have to rethink my white flower rule and try for some unexpected color from time to time.

Hi Coco, very nice arrangement. The black and white logo pillows and the rug go perfect with the white Hydrangea. The yellow roses would be nice on a wood table.

Anyhow, everything looks very stylish and cozy in the same way! Well done….Best greetings from Germany

The Art of Styling a Coffee Table! Begin by choo The Art of Styling a Coffee Table!

Begin by choosing a rectangular or a round shapes coffee table. They’re both timeless shapes that will complement almost every home design style: traditional, modern, contemporary, boho, farmhouse, etc. However, there are pros and cons of both.

Round coffee tables take up less space and are safer for children due to the lack of sharp edges. If you have a small living room or apartment then round coffee tables might be the right choice for you.

Rectangular coffee tables are more common, which means you’ll have more options while you’re shopping (this can be a good or bad thing depending on the shopper LOL). The rectangular shape is great for controlling foot traffic in a space and can take up a lot of empty space in a large room.

The decor process is all about levels, colors, and textures. It’s all about finding the right balance. The pros stack coffee table books to create height. You can add also add a candle, paper weight and/or a decor accent. Make sure to add your own personal style!

Do you prefer rectangular or round coffee tables?

A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. Th A quick history lesson for this Monday morning. This Spanish-style home located in Malibu is actually a museum. I visited the Adamson House a few years ago. The beachfront house was built in 1929 and sits on six acres. The home was designed by Stiles Clement for Rhonda Ridge and her husband Merritt Adamson. The Adamsons used the property as their beach house until 1936 when they started living there year-round. Rhoda's father, Frederick Hastings Ridge, was the last owner of Malibu making the Adamson House a historical landmark. No photos were allowed inside.
