My Tour of the Famous Beverly House in Beverly Hills

November 15, 2021
  • Share

A few months ago, on Instagram Live, I toured the iconic Beverly House, also known as The Hearst Estate. I’ve driven past this gorgeous structure hundreds of times. And I always wondered what it looked like on the inside. Then I saw a line of people on the property and realized they were having an estate sale. I immediately texted my friend, who I was on the way of meeting, telling her the change of plans. After paying the $20 fee, we were in! I decided to go live on Instagram, because I knew my followers would enjoy a mansion tour. Originally, I wanted it to be a graceful and elegant tour. Of course, it turned into a comedy thriller, because people kept following me and telling me to stop filming. I didn’t listen and kept running to the next room. Take a look inside the gorgeous house that I toured (and almost got asked to leave) below.

This home is not only stunning but has a lot of history. President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jackie Kennedy spent their honeymoon there. It was featured in a few films: The Bodyguard, The Godfather, and Beyonce’s Black is King.

In 2020, the property hit the market for $125 million. It never sold due to the fact that most people don’t have $125 million to spend on a house. The Spanish-style estate is on 3.5 acres of private land. It has 18 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms, a spa, screening room, and a gorgeous backyard with a pool. The home was built by architect Gordon Kaufmann of Hoover Dam fame.

Back in June, it was reported by Mansion Global that the price drastically decreased to $69.95 million by a bankruptcy court house. According to the Los Angeles Times,  Berggruen Holdings Ltd. put in a $47 million offer, which was accepted. However, prospective buyers have from now until September 14th to place a bid of at least $48 million. So if you are interested, then go put an offer in!

The spaces that get it right pair it with warm oak, aged brass, and something worn-in: an antique dresser, a vintage runner, a hand-thrown vase.

Heidi Caillier Design took this historic San Francisco home and layered floral wallpaper, striped drapery, checked linens, and antique textiles room after room without a single one feeling overdone. Marble mantels, gilt mirrors, brass fixtures, and warm wood floors do the quiet work of holding it all together.
This is what happens when “more” is chosen on purpose.

A great bathroom isn’t just functional, it’s the one room in the house that’s entirely yours. The stone you choose, the way light hits the fixtures, the tub you actually want to sit in. These are the ones that get it exactly right.
Save this for your next bathroom renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Here’s a little throwback toHappy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
Here’s a little throwback to a Labor Day dinner party I hosted a few years ago, and honestly, we’d still do it this way. 🥂✨
Hosting this Labor Day? Keep it simple:
• Set the table with one statement detail + neutral basics
• Choose a menu you can prep ahead so you’re not cooking all night
• Add candles or flowers to make the table feel special
• Serve everything family-style for a more relaxed feel
• Don’t overthink it. The best dinners are the ones where everyone lingers a little longer 🤍
Save this for your next dinner party and send it to someone who’s hosting! 🍽️
