Frances Elkin white lacquer chair in a brown and white sitting room. (above)
Hope you had a great holiday weekend! I did! I had a wonderful weekend (oh except for the part where I got a computer virus on Thanksgiving morning and spent 3 hours trying to get rid of it…I finally found a video on Youtube where some 14 year old kid with braces explained how to get rid of the virus…it worked…thanks kid with the braces!)!
Anyhooooooo….wouldn’t it be nice to have space for a sitting room in your home? A place off of your bedroom where you could sit and read, write letters, handle light correspondence and have a wonderful cup of tea. I like this chocolate brown and white his and hers sitting room. Very tailored and quite a nice space to sit…!
I’m sitting on a hard cold chair in my kitchen right now…my “sitting room”…hmmmm…
Well…no time to sit this Monday though…so much to do.
while I like this sitting area…I think my favorite element to the room is the detail trim painted on the ceiling. Love this added touch.
What do you think of this room? Where do you sit to read and write and just sit in your home?
Hope you have a fantastic Monday!
P.S. Please remember to follow me on COCOCOZY TWITTER too! More of my chatter from me on a wide variety of things. The more the merrier! Would love to hear from you there too! As soon as we reach 2500 following along there, I’ll do another fab linen pillow giveaway for twitter fans only. So please tweet along with me and tell your friends! 🙂

I would be thrilled to have this room in my home.
That room is gorgeous! I love everything about it, especially the browns and the mix of patterns.
I just posted today about mixing patterns. If I had seen these photos, I would have included them.
Thank you for the siting room inspiration. I actually do have a chair and desk in my bedroom, but my beagle usually gets to the seat first!
I LOVE THIS! I am moving next year and I want to use this room as an inspiration for my home office. LOVE LOVE LOVE your site! 🙂
i color palette is so simple yet each of the items in the room are very unique. it works perfectly.
Loving this room and yes you’re right (of course!) that brown trim on the ceiling is a very fine idea.

The room is gorgeous…and the ceiling detail is great. Like your post very much.
yes, that is pretty! i feel like i wouldn’t use a sitting room, we have a formal living room and we don’t use it, maybe for our next cocktail party?
The simplicity of the color selections are a fabulous compliment to the varied patterns. Perfect blend! Love your blog, Coco!
Such a perfect example of mixing chocolate brown and white. Love all the details! xo
Ooooh, this is such a pretty room! LOVE the detail on the ceiling. OMG, I could do this on my dining room ceiling… where’s the painters tape?! I also love the ottoman – adore the look of contrasting piping. And love the beautiful pattern on the table skirt & cushions.
This room needs to go into my inspiration folder pronto! THANK YOU for sharing it!
love the detail in this room!
Beautiful blog posts!
Where do I sit, in my home, to read, and write? —
in my Writing Studio, at my desk;
living-room floor, near Cat Corner;
floor of Writing Studio…
LOVE this room! I’ve been dying to paint a room brown in my house – probably the powder room! And the Frances Elkin chair has always been a favorite. In my old house, I actually did have a sitting room off the bedroom and it was lovely. Now I’m either in the kitchen or in my tiny office upstairs.
This is one of the best post I have ever seen regarding Interior designing, thanks keep posting
This room is fabulous…makes me realize how much I love brown. I’m a bedtime reader, yet I have no sitting area – just read (and fall asleep) in bed!!
Love the color scheme – great contrast between light and dark!
I recognize the white sconce — was drooling over it on Neiman’s website. I like the room, but it is a little over-decorated to me. Thanks for all the great posts!
Hi, thanks for the Informative an beautiful post. keep posting
I’ve died and gone to design heaven! Wonderful room – well edited, clean lines, subtle palette and awesome use of upholstered pieces. Bravo.
I just found this looking for a white chair with a brown desk b/c I just painted a chair white to go with a brown sewing machine. This is lovely. I LOVE your style!
